The silence may have to do with the state’s history of political violence. During the 2021 post-poll violence, BJP leaders 'ran away leaving their voters at the mercy of the mob'.
Even if there is an early agreement on a cessation of hostilities in Iran, the price shock will not go away easily. Global prices of oil and gas will remain elevated.
India’s university towns initiative is an opportunity to do something we have never managed at scale: build knowledge ecosystems rather than knowledge silos.
India’s parliamentary power was never entirely numerical. By giving voice to regions, federalism turned India into a nation. Now that national coherence is threatened by a purely numerical principle.
Japan’s experience should be viewed not as an anomaly but as a precursor. It illustrates that an economy can maintain resilience even as growth moderates.
Three factors—political buy-in, collector’s office as a listening post, and non-interference in anti-insurgency operations—ensured the Dantewada operation worked.
The relationship with the soldier is deeply personal, often devotional. When an image is framed as a tribute—invoking sacrifice and nationalism—the instinct is to honour, not verify.
Share of trade with FTA partners rose from 4.6% in 2006 to 28.8% in 2024. India is currently negotiating or advancing agreements with US, Israel, GCC, Canada & Mexico.
American objectives are unmet. They neither have muscle nor motivation to resume the war. As for Iran, the regime didn’t just survive, it’s now led by more radical individuals.
I simply don’t understand how only 11 years BJP causes so much despair in people like this author.
The Congress ruled for 35-40 years, made a mockery of the constitution and no words of despair are said about that era. Don’t forget that BJP was reduced to 2 seats, congress’s lowest count was 44. Congress has to grow beyond the Gandhi family, that is the only way it can ever make in inroads.
The author didn’t mention the two words which I was trying to find when she was blaming how the opposition is bad and it lacks imagination. Those two words : Rahul Gandhi
Funnily enough she doesn’t even mention Congress but she does mention RJD and how bad they are in elections. So is it wrong for me to assume that who her bosses are ?
The opposition is weak because Rahul gandhi is in the helm of Congress. The author doesn’t even mention how Rahul gandhi literally left the country in the middle of election campaign.
This is why some authors are just not good enough for this country because they are so biased to even call out the one guy who should be mentioned.
Well at-least she is not blaming the EVM, So there is some improvement. I will take this author seriously when she writes an article about why Rahul gandhi should not be in charge of Congress. One of the worst opposition leader on this planet is not mentioned is just shocking.
Also there are some opposition parties who realize this and I am genuinely waiting for a new national party which can actually point out the real problems in the country whether that is -land and Labour reforms, housing problems, low level corruption which leads to barriers in entrepreneurship, lack of skills among a lot of graduates, business reforms, police reforms and judicial reforms.
My point being there is a lot of problems to choose and make it an issue. The role of the opposition is to pressure the government to look into these problems by making noises about the said problem. The only group which is raising real issues are the BJP supporters. They had to fill the gap unfortunately.
