Here’s what’s happening across the border: City courts complex of Karachi caught fire and a local performer from Larkana was shot dead at a wedding by drunk attendees.

Chinese workers involved in a brawl with Pakistan police deported

The five Chinese engineers who beat up policemen for not allowing them to visit brothels without security personnel were deported back to China Tuesday.

The orders came from the interior minister, Ahsan Iqbal who sent the engineers to Lahore in special vehicles, after which they were boarded onto an aircraft that flew them out.

The action came after the Chinese engineers, engaged in the CPEC M-4 Motorway project lashed out at the security officers a week ago. They had staged a violent protest against the local police and cut the electricity supply to a police camp within the construction camp they were working in.

Karachi courts complex catch fire

A massive fire erupted in the property room of the city courts complex in Karachi Wednesday. The fire was contained after four hours and no causalities were reported.

Multiple explosions were heard in the court’s evidence room, which usually houses explosives recovered from arrested suspects. Apart from the fire brigade, the bomb disposal squad was called as well, as the fire started spreading outwards. A portion of the roof in the evidence room also collapsed during the cooling process.

According to a Sindh police official, there was no one present inside the building when the flames flared up.

Famous local performer killed in Larkana by supposedly drunk wedding-goers

Samina Sindhu, a famous entertainer in Larkana city, was shot dead Tuesday at a wedding function in Kanga where she was performing when two supposedly drunk wedding attendees opened fire when she was dancing.

Both suspects were arrested by law enforcement agencies who reached the crime scene soon after the shooting stopped.

Sindhu’s body was taken to Chandka Medical College Hospital for postmortem. Sindh home minister Suhail Anwar Siyal addressed the incident and asked the local police to submit a report in this regard. According to Geo TV, an investigation has been launched into the singer’s murder.

Video of deputy speaker throwing MQM MPA out of parliament goes viral

A video from Pakistan parliament’s session on 7 March has been going viral on the internet. Deputy speaker Shehla Raza was seen shutting up and throwing out a member of provincial assembly (MPA) belonging to the Muttahida Qaumi Movement party (MQM) in the video.

After the MPA refused to maintain decorum in the assembly, Raza turned off his mike and condemned his behaviour. “You have forgotten who you are talking to… this is no way to present your arguments in the assembly,” she said. She further referred to the rule book of the assembly and said: “This book gives me the authority to do whatever it takes to maintain the decorum of the assembly, and I will do the same.”

However, when the MPA refused to settle down, Raza ordered the sergeant-at-arms to remove him from the assembly. She then warned the rest of the assembly members to behave better and restore decorum in the house.
