Gruesome killing of eight people in Bengal’s Birbhum is deplorable. So are attempts to politicise it. Every party, without exception, has contributed to Bengal’s culture of violence. CM Mamata Banerjee’s remark that such incidents happened in Gujarat, Rajasthan too, is uncalled-for whataboutery. She must ensure a fair probe and justice.
