New Delhi: After almost 15 hours of counting, the much-anticipated result of the Bihar assembly election was announced in the early hours of Wednesday with the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) winning the popular mandate and Nitish Kumar returning as the chief minister.

This comes after most exit polls wrongly predicted a sweep by the Opposition-led Mahagathbandhan.
