The best cartoons of the day, chosen by editors at ThePrint.

The selected cartoons appeared first in other publications, either in print or online, or on social media, and are credited appropriately.

The lead cartoon, by Kirtish Bhatt for BBC Hindi, depicts the confusion of people in Karnataka after the election results. High drama has unfolded since the verdict was announced after the results, with the third largest party in terms of seats leading the coalition staking claim to form the government.

In Mail Today, Satish Acharya shows how the Congress is trying to steal a march on the BJP by wooing the JD(S).

In his caricature, cartoonist Nala Ponnappa suggests Sonia Gandhi is still the boss in the Congress as she was the one who reportedly asked senior party leaders to broker a deal with the JD(S).

The next cartoon, by Manjul for Mid-Day, depicts how Rahul Gandhi, despite showing a lot of promise in the election campaign, lost to the Modi-Shah duo yet again, forcing mother Sonia Gandhi to step in.
