India becoming a great power will depend on it continuing to do well economically, building a more capable defence industry & improving human development indicators, among other factors.
Leaders like Owaisi exploit such incidents to instill suspicion towards people from other communities. They effectively create a scenario where Muslims only trust a Muslim in power.
There’s a reason senior government officials rely more on consultants than their own subordinates. They walk the extra mile that mid or junior-level officials won’t.
The biggest threat to INDIA is the breaking of consensus. The PM candidate must be clever enough to prove that they are not a threat to anyone within the alliance.
Till the Congress registers a substantial improvement in its tally, the INDIA coalition can't deny the BJP another term in office even if TMC, DMK, JD(U) & RJD do their bit.
India shouldn't be in a hurry to negotiate a settlement on unequal terms with China merely for the success of G20 or to ward off a perceived threat to electoral success.
Lacking even the meagre comfort of an after-dinner cognac to calm their nerves, the assembled billionaires listened silently as their guest’s rage washed over the gathering....
This is the transcript of Ep 1830 of Cut the Clutter, where Shekhar Gupta explains why strategic petroleum reserves are a national necessity & how India compares with China, US & Japan.
Tracked and wheeled variants, built in collaboration with Tata Advanced Systems and Bharat Forge, carry 30mm turrets, cross water using hydro jets, and are 65% indigenous.
American objectives are unmet. They neither have muscle nor motivation to resume the war. As for Iran, the regime didn’t just survive, it’s now led by more radical individuals.
The author is concerned the masses are naively imagining that it has ended? He feels compelled to caution them against becoming sanguine so early!
Pardon me. I too can’t immediately recall who has been feeding the imagination of the masses about invasions, re-occupations, blood-thirsty retributions, and immediate, iron-handed reprisals.
Mr. Jerry Rao, like most who have similarly graduated from India’s public-funded elite institutions, always behaves as if that one credential gained long time back granted to him for perpetuity…with no further need ever for right effort by him…soaring intellectual and moral superiority, and temporal entitlements, which others cannot question.
Hence, the regular writings from him laden with uncured philosophical concoctions, silly narratives of ostensibly personal ideological struggles, and disjointed historical references; all to eulogize either himself or the fetid regimen which he considers favourable.
This guy was banished to Citibank ME or somewhere because of his irregularities that got uncovered in Citibank’s major scam of 1992. He has made his share of loot in the recent governments of the ruling party through ventures that exploited dubious govt. missions.
He represents the slimy, unctuous crony capitalism which is the mirror image of the hypocritical, self-righteous, “socialist” credo that justified the license raj.
Worse, he does not know to call it a day.
Even at this crucial juncture, is there a grain of honest self-introspection, and sincere analysis in this latest flagellation of us by him?
Note how conveniently he credits all of the little that is imaginably good, even if insubstantial or unsubstantiated, to those in power whom he favours. While implying that the rot which has unabatedly continued even under those very them is despite them, and not because of them.
But, the certainity he will surely be having is that only they can do what must be done. Which is to set straight the rest of us. For which they need more time, and use more force.
