New Delhi: The Defence and Research Development Organisation (DRDO) Saturday unveiled the amphibious Advanced Armoured Platforms (Tracked and Wheeled) to meet the military’s operational requirement.

Integrated with high power engine and automatic transmission, these platforms possess a high power-to-weight ratio, higher speed capabilities, gradient and obstacle negotiating capability, STANAG level-4 and -5 protection with modular blast and ballistic protection all around, it added.

The vehicle are amphibious and come with improved water obstacle crossing capability by incorporating hydro jets.

The crewless turret along with the 7.62 mm PKT gun is configured to launch anti-tank guided missiles as well. The base design has the capabilities to be configured for multiple roles. The indigenous content is to the tune of 65 percent with plans to increase it to 90 percent, the statement added.

The manufacturing of the platforms has been carried out by two industry partners–TATA Advanced Systems Limited and Bharat Forge Limited.

Nine Years, Made Possible by Readers

In 2017, Shekhar Gupta started ThePrint with a simple belief: Indian readers want journalism that asks why and what next, not just what. And that enough of them would be willing to pay for good journalism.

Nine years on, that belief has held.

And, in these nine years, we’ve stayed true to our mission. We’ve been asking the follow-up questions, going beyond the headlines and explaining what’s actually happening. We’ve travelled across the country to bring you in-depth, visually-compelling stories from the ground.

It’s been nine years of readers choosing to make this possible. If you’d like to be one of them:
