India’s new restrictions to fight coronavirus, including banning international flights for a week, and PM Modi’s simple, inspirational appeal to the nation to join this battle is reassuring. India’s battle against Covid-19 won’t be this simple though. Besides resolve and restraint, it should ensure healthcare infrastructure is ready for worse.

SC order on MP floor test prudent. Such frequent episodes shows Indian politics is broken

Supreme Court’s direction for a floor test in Madhya Pradesh assembly on Friday is prudent. It didn’t allow the state legislature to waste time like in Karnataka. The Congress has only itself to blame for this unseemly situation. Such frequent episodes across states shows Indian politics is broken and fungible.

  1. True. But it seems that Rahul and his cohorts (sycophants?) in Congress ONLY want to denigrate, demean and ridicule anything that Modi does out of their pique and petulance. Prime example: P Chidambaram,, who advocates a ‘lockdown’ fo all cities and towns, is blissfully (or deliberately) unaware of the irony that Shaheen Bagh is alive and running to packed houses right under HIS OWN NOSE. Hypocrisy.

  2. Politics is becoming war by other means. Whether this is a good thing – not reflected in superior governance or economic growth, for sure – one cannot say. However, especially for the Congress, this is becoming an existential issue. It has vulnerable state governments, with slender majorities. After failing to keep its flock together, running away from a floor test is childish.
