IFS officers are supposed to be diplomats. But the Indian consul-general in New York has clearly forgotten the need for nuance on Kashmir, especially after the Article 370 crisis. Suggesting the Israel model will only confirm the fears of Kashmiris. MEA should pull him up and quickly control the damage.

Pragya now praises Godse in Parliament, BJP’s celebration of Gandhi’s 150 years rings hollow

BJP MP Pragya Thakur doesn’t seem to learn. She is back to calling Gandhi’s assassin Nathuram Godse a patriot. This time, in Parliament. She was chastised by PM Modi during the election campaign, and BJP even claimed to have disciplined her. The party’s celebration of Gandhi’s 150th anniversary rings hollow.

Hardeep Puri is right on Air India privatisation, Modi govt must stay its course this time

Aviation minister Hardeep Puri is being uncharacteristically bold, and rightly so, to say Air India will have to close down if it isn’t privatised. 1. Pragya Thakur speaks from the heart. She honestly believes that assassinating Mahatma Gandhi was an act of patriotism. So do others, who take care to hide their true feelings.

  2. To be perfectly honest, I don’t think anyone will buy Air India. Least of all if it has to assume thirty thousand crores of its debt. Aaj nahin toh kal, it will have to be shut down. Its assets / intangible rights disposed of systematically for the best price. What will remain is a large minus figure, the accumulated cost of indecision / procrastination by successive governments over the decades.
