The government is missing the real picture by assuming that Kashmir’s security situation has improved just because terror recruitment and stone pelting have dropped this year. J&K is under President’s Rule, there’s no sign of assembly elections or of fixing the broken bridge with Delhi. This needs urgent attention too.

EC isn’t doing its reputation for bias any favours by banning Congress slogan

The Election Commission ban on Congress’ “chowkidar chor hai” campaign in Madhya Pradesh is a sign of disproportionate policing, especially because PM Modi and Amit Shah remarks haven’t been censured. EC’s response must seem to be fair and consistent and not give the appearance of a shrinking level-playing field.
