UNICEF welcomes Tajikistan’s support for return of displaced children from Syria

The Government of Tajikistan has demonstrated its commitment to the Convention on the Rights of the Child, it said.

New Delhi: UNICEF strongly condemns the ongoing conflict in Syria and its devastating impact on children, it said in a statement, adding that it stands with the children and families who have been displaced from their homes.

UNICEF also welcomed the Government of Tajikistan’s commitment to supporting the safe return of children and their families to their country of origin. The Government of Tajikistan has demonstrated its commitment to the Convention on the Rights of the Child and the UN children’s agency is proud to have worked with the Government and people of Tajikistan to facilitate the reintegration of 32 children and 15 women from Syria, it said.

It also said that UNICEF continues to support the efforts of the Government of Tajikistan in providing comprehensive care, assistance and protection to children and families returning from conflict areas
