From a Congress viewpoint, who would be the ideal Chief Minister for Kerala at this point? It should be Shashi Tharoor, given how he ticks all the boxes.

Nothing of that sort. As usual, like any other typical top-level Congress leader, he too lacks a direct connect with the common man. But, one cannot expect much from a party leadership that itself lacks basic political acumen, besides being surrounded by a group of selfish and incompetent advisers (KCV being one among them). Through a series of foolish moves and flawed political strategies pursued consistently over the years, they have virtually destroyed the party even in strongholds (such as A.P., Punjab, M.P, Rajasthan, … and so on), where Congress once dominated. It is also amusing to see that its principal leader appears comfortable living with the label “Pappu,” a nickname repeatedly used by political opponents. Judging from the pattern followed in the past, there is little doubt about they eventually imposing KCV as Chief Minister. But that would be an insult to the people who voted the party to power with a thumping majority. Remember, that could well cause the downfall of Congress in the state too, while simultaneously paving the way for the ever-growing and aggressive BJP, which is steadily emerging as a formidable force in the state. It would merely be a repetition of the same sequence of events witnessed in other states. Ironically, the leadership seems to be living in a fool’s paradise, without learning any lessons from its past mistakes. You need not wait long — it is now the turn of Kerala’s politically aware voters. They are likely to teach this “avatar” a lesson by defeating him in the inevitable by-election, besides defeating the party in the parliamentary by-election as well.
