It is too late for the Congress to get back Jyotiraditya Scindia. The BJP won’t be a bed of roses for him either, but he won’t be totally out of place.
Jyotiraditya Scindia, former Guna MP who has been with Congress for 18 years, quit party Tuesday saying this path has been drawing itself out over past year.
Six more Congress MLAs, including ministers, are also likely to resign from the Assembly. This will bring the strength of the House down and help BJP prove majority.
I’d written in Feb 2013 how Gandhi family could no longer swing votes for Congress. As we track ‘Cyclone Scindia’, that ‘National Interest’ has aged rather well.
The Congress expelled Jyotirditya Scindia for 'anti-party activities' just moments after he tweeted his resignation letter to Sonia Gandhi. Fourteen Congress MLAs loyal to Scindia have also sent their resignations to the MP governor.
The Congress MLAs arrived in Bengaluru in the backdrop of allegations that BJP is trying to poach them to topple the Kamal Nath-led government in Madhya Pradesh.
Canada faces serious foreign interference issues, but these challenges must not be weaponized to unfairly target friendly and important allies like India.
In Episode 1544 of CutTheClutter, Editor-in-Chief Shekhar Gupta looks at some top economists pointing to the pitfalls of ‘currency nationalism’ with data from 1991 to 2004.
Among 19 Indian firms sanctioned by US Treasury Dept was Lokesh Machines Ltd accused of coordinating with 'Russian defence procurement agent to import Italy-origin CNC machines'.
While we talk much about our military, we don’t put our national wallet where our mouth is. Nobody is saying we should double our defence spending, but current declining trend must be reversed.
Jyotiraditya Scindia is yet to prove his calibre, but that is for lack of opportunity within the banyan tree that is the Gandhis. Now that he will be in the open and lush fields of the BJP, let’s see how he does. I, for one, will be rooting for him. Let’s see what he is made of! Give the man a decent chance.
If he lives up to his promise, then we Indians can count ourselves lucky. We will have a future leader of stature. And if Sachin Pilot also comes home to the BJP, then we will have the begining of a strong team to take over the reins and bat for India.
Rahul Gandhi still their Prime ministarial candidate when there is one Amrinder Singh 10 times more hardworking, astute and seasoned than Rahul. Alas…!
I would go so far as to say that they are already below ground, 6 feet under. Only the Ghost of the Congress is roaming around, pretending the body is alive and kicking. Its heart stopped beating in 2014. Sadly, the party was Brain Dead for decades before that but managed to convince everyone that it was a going concern.
RIP!
Congress where decisions are in dormant status can wind up the Party for good. Sick Mom & child have ruined the Party.
It’s ironical that BJP which claims to be world’s biggest still want Congress which they claim a dead party to form BJP government through back door. What happens to charges of land grabbing etc made by BJP against Scindia. Will it washed in BJP washing machine.
For one ‘Kamal’ to bloom another must fade. Such is the zero-sum game we are all pawns of. Whichever side of the garden seems greenest to you.. hop on. The joyride has just begun!
It would be a stretch for Mr Scindia to set his sights on the top job. However, he is the sort of politician there should be more of in responsible positions in government. Part of the effort to fill in the talent crunch. Similarly, the return of Shri S S Chouhan to the CM’s post helps the party retain its edge in state level politics. Sometimes electoral politics forces compromises to be made while selecting people for important jobs. However, Mr Ajay Bisht is neither an incandescent politician nor a fantastic administrator. Not PM material in a million years.

Go for it Jyotiraditya!

Congress is a sinking ship. All sane congressmen should join Trinamool Congress without any delay.
Whole of Italy in lockdown and people maintaining safe distance from Italians. Scindia took it quite seriously
The Gandhi’s are running the congress into ground. They are second biggest strength of BJP today, after the oratory skills of Modi.
Well said!
