“Cong and CPM are political twins who share the same tortured appeasement definition of ‘secularism’,” Kerala BJP President Rajeev Chandrasekhar, also the only BJP MP in Kerala from Thrissur, which has a significant Christian population, posted on X Friday.”
Dear Print Team,
The BJP MP from Kerala is Suresh Gopi and not Rajeev Chandrashekar.
Totally biased reporting . Pl review the following comments and be mindful of your responsibility and reputation. (I get the impression that this article is to whitewash the Sudapis who created this issue for communal polarization)
1) This girl joined school in June (after agreeing to abide by the school rules including uniform) and started raising this issue only now. She could have continued with the earlier school (under Muslim management) – if her priority was to wear the hijab. There are 100+ muslim students who are following the uniform.
2) Her father and and some others (apparently SDPI /PFI members) created a ruckus in the school – so much so that the school had to be closed for two days. (not protest by the general public as your article suggests)
3) There is an earlier order by HC that schools have the right to prescribe the uniform. (it is upto the student to join the school / continue there or leave)
4) On the first day, the education minister took a stand supporting the school decision. He did a 180 deg turn the next day (not sure whether this is based on SDPI pressure or to divert attention from other ongoing issues including gold theft)
5) Not sure whether the statement attributed to the HM (that other students are scared of the hijab) is factual, I haven’t seen any such video. From day 1, the school management has been stating that their uniform code has to be followed, not the reason.
6) As per media reports, the High Court Justice V.G. Arun orally remarked that no coercive steps could be taken against the school, since it is affiliated with the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). He declined the school’s request for an interim stay on a state government directive ….
He stated he would not issue an order “for the sake of passing one” and sought the government’s response regarding whether it is empowered to issue such a directive to CBSE schools.
