New Delhi: Congress president Rahul Gandhi Monday expressed regret over his remarks on the Supreme Court’s Rafale verdict being “incorrectly attributed” to the top court. Gandhi insisted that his statement was being misused by the opponents, and that he never intended to say that the apex court had said ‘Chowkidar Chor Hai’.

The BJP, however, called the Congress president a “liar of the first order” and has demanded an apology from him for his remark.

Gandhi in his affidavit stated that he did not have “the slightest intention to insinuate anything regarding the Supreme Court proceedings in any manner”.

He went on to testify that “has not done nor remotely intends to do anything to lower the majesty of this Hon’ble Court in any manner whatsoever. The contents of the accompanying Affidavit are not repeated for the sake of brevity and may be read as part and parcel of the present application.”
