Modi govt will launch a three-minute video showcasing its achievements over the last four years and release its slogan for re-election on 26 May.

New Delhi: The BJP-led central government of Prime Minister Narendra Modi is ready with its re-election slogan a full one year in advance: ‘2019 mein phir ek baar, Modi sarkar’ (In 2019, Modi government yet again).

The slogan will be released on Saturday when the government marks its fourth anniversary, ThePrint has learnt.

The BJP, sources in the party said, has put together a three-minute video, to be released Saturday. The video shows a migrant worker going back to his village to find rapid development having taken place there. It then goes on to showcase all of the Modi government’s welfare and infrastructure initiatives.

The video that ends with a tagline — ‘Saaf Niyat, Sahi Vikas’ (clean intentions, right development), clearly targets the 2019 polls as it puts out the slogan that says ‘2019 mein phir ek baar, Modi sarkar’, taking off from the BJP’s famous and almost viral tagline ahead of the 2014 Lok Sabha elections — ‘Abki baar, Modi sarkar’.

The sources said the advertisement is expected to be launched at an event Saturday.

PM Narendra Modi will be in Odisha on 26 May for the four-year celebrations of the government.

The BJP government had initially come under attack from various quarters for what is seen as its ‘pro-rich’ policies with then Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi calling it a ‘suit-boot ki sarkar’.

The BJP has since attempted to correct this perception and cultivate a pro-rural, pro-poor and welfare-oriented image. Its pitch for 2019, as well as its claims of success in the past four years, also sticks to the same approach.

The video advertisement lays out a number of this government’s marquee initiatives. These include the rural electrification programme, ‘Saubhagya’, with claims of electrifying all villages in the country, the subsidised LPG connection scheme ‘Ujjawala’, ‘Unnat Jyoti’ which gives affordable LEDs, the housing programme ‘PM Awaas Yojana’, the opening of Jan Aushadhi stores, increased speed in rural road construction, ease in obtaining passports, and Start-Up India, among others.

The ad caters to women voters by talking about an increase in maternity leave from three to six months and underlining its ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’ campaign. The advertisement, which also talks about the bullet train, ends with visuals of PM Modi waving to enthusiastic crowds.
