Gurugram: BJP president Nitin Nabin Wednesday appointed national general secretary Smriti Irani as in-charge of Haryana and Chhattisgarh while party vice-president Ram Madhav has been given charge of Tamil Nadu and Uttarakhand. Amit Malviya, who was recently dropped as IT cell in-charge, has been rehabilitated in the organisation as party co-in-charge of Maharashtra.
Baijayant Jay Panda is now in-charge of Maharashtra while Sadanand Shet Tanawade and Kamaljeet Saharawat are co-in-charges, according to the list released by the BJP’s Delhi office that covered all 36 states and Union territories.
Goa, Punjab, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Manipur, Himachal Pradesh and Gujarat are set to go to polls next year.
Satish Poonia is the new in-charge of Jammu & Kashmir and Punjab. Dr Bhola Singh is co-incharge of Haryana. Tarun Chugh has been made the party in-charge of Gujarat, with Ajay Mahawar and Gomati Sai as co-in-charges. Shrikant Sharma is the new in-charge of Himachal Pradesh.
Vinod Tawde was earlier given charge of Uttar Pradesh. On Wednesday, Nabin made four co-in-charges of UP—Jagdish Patel, Medha Kulkarni, Dr Pradeep Verma and Anant Ojha. Arvind Menon and Bansuri Swaraj will be Ram Madhav’s co-in-charges in Uttarakhand.
Sanjay Bhatia, Rajya Sabha MP from Haryana, has also been made in-charge of Rajasthan with Kavita Patidar and Kuljeet Chahal as co-in-charges or sah-prabharis.
Former Tripura CM Biplab Kumar Deb is the new party in-charge of Madhya Pradesh with Rekha Verma as co-incharge.
Harish Dwivedi is the new in-charge of Bihar and Karnataka. Sunil Bansal has been given charge of Telangana and West Bengal. Vinay Sahasrabuddhe takes Delhi.
