Only non-serious aspirants, Modi-baiters want JEE-NEET postponed: ex Kota student

Most of those speaking against the JEE NEET schedule have no locus standi to comment on the matter, having never appeared for either of these exams themselves.

India’s premier exams for admission into the top engineering and medical colleges of the country — JEE and NEET — frequently create news waves because of their difficulty level. This time, however, it is the coronavirus pandemic. Ever since the Narendra Modi government announced its plans to conduct the exams in September, a chorus of criticism has risen. Most of these — by various political parties and sections of liberal intelligentsia — are unwarranted, and are trying to mask various interests under the false pretence of students’ grievance.

Many of those speaking out have no locus standi to comment on the matter, having never appeared for either of these exams themselves. There are mainly three kinds of arguments that have been made against the present scheduling of these exams, and India’s engineering and medical ecosystem at large, and all three arguments need to be dissected and dismantled.

‘Students don’t want this’

This is the first argument, which ignores the reality that no candidate who has seriously prepared for the exam will ever want it to get postponed. Competition to IITs/NITs is statistically quite difficult and, all factors included, only less than 5 per cent make the cut. I say this as someone who prepared for engineering entrance exams in Kota almost a decade ago, has friends from all of India’s top engineering colleges, and studied at the National Institute of Technology (NIT), Allahabad.

What I see is that a few students who are neither serious about these exams, nor are part of the club of those youngsters who might be pro-Modi/BJP, have hijacked the agenda and other political parties seem to have mistakenly given in. In fact, I’ll venture to say that some parties might be behind all this. Now before it seems that I’m putting across the viewpoint of a privileged person with no understanding of the struggles of non-affluent engineering aspirants, let me state that I do understand. Not only did I meet many such young aspirants in Kota, a very high percentage of my class at NIT hailed from lower-income backgrounds.

One of my closest friends from the institute belonged to a family whose cumulative annual income was less than Rs 1 lakh. This classmate of mine cycled 16 km every day to reach the coaching centre and then return home in Kanpur. During the long journey, he would think of solutions to difficult problems from his coursework. Another friend of mine lost his father at the age of five, and was raised by his grandfather who earned just a post office clerk’s pension. I have countless other stories. So, when I say that serious aspirants, whether affluent or not, will never want to get the exam postponed, I say it based on multiple interactions from cross-sections of society.

To those alien to the world of engineering and who have only heard of IITs, and not NITs, an analogy might explain a few things. IITs are like the three Khans of Bollywood — they enjoy world fame and are rightfully considered the torch bearers of their field. NITs are more like the likes of Akshay Kumar, Ajay Devgn who are bankable stars in their own right, but are considered inferior in terms of their brand value, ‘quality’ and fame. As an aside, think of the Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS Pilani) as Hrithik Roshan — a more stylish and equally good version of these stars/institutes, and the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) as the evergreen Amitabh Bachchan.

Preparation for the entrance exams is generally completed every year by the end of March. Thus, the argument that those with no access to online coaching classes couldn’t prepare, or were left disheartened due to the dates not getting postponed to October, doesn’t stand up to scrutiny. If the preparation has been disrupted, it’s of those students who hope to appear for the exams next year, in 2021. These exams are also conducted at a massive scale, like Indian elections, and thus, even candidates from smaller towns are likely to find a centre in a city within a 100-120 km radius.

The political angle

Like any healthy democracy, India has a culture of protest. While this is helpful on many occasions, sometimes it also leads to a politicisation of issues crucial to national interest. And this politicisation of JEE and NEET is simply unwarranted. In the absence of any cohesive governance agenda, India’s opposition parties are merely grasping at straws. Many anti-Modi commentators, too, have joined the bandwagon under a false impression. However, it only takes three to four people to start a protest in a population of 100, and is never representative of the larger sentiment.

New Delhi’s Shaheen Bagh protest saw many protesters, including many young Hindus, but did it really affect Prime Minister Narendra Modi? The chaos around the NEET-JEE exams is unlikely to affect him either. Let me also clarify that neither am I a fan of the government, nor of Modi. I am merely amused and concerned by this liberal harakiri.

No need to change the existing pattern

In the current debate around the exams, some have recommended an entire overhaul of the present competitive exam system, falsely suggesting that it promotes rote-learning. However, nothing can be further from the truth. Contrary to popular perception, top engineering entrance exams are never about rote learning. They are invariably about application of fundamental concepts, and don’t require any significant cramming of formulas.

The present examination system is also way more egalitarian than any of the suggested alternatives. Any attempt to make admissions more holistic and profile-centric will invariably favour those who come from big cities and affluent backgrounds. An ability to excel in Mathematics is somewhat innate; fluency in the English language, or having a great extracurriculars record is more a function of privilege.

As an avowed liberal, I make a request to my fellow liberals. Let’s not destroy one of those rare systems of upward-mobility, which works well in India for petty political and personal reasons.

  1. Only one thing to say to this author…….#KItne me becha apne aap ko????? Even prostititutes have their soul intact…..you dalal journalists ve happily sold their body and soul to BJP for money…..you are a devil who can’t see a poor student belonging to the family of a daily wage worker struggling to survive during this pandemic……such brazen , pompous and outrageously shameless attitude towards the poor section of the society……..

  2. You have talked a lot of crap here. If you haven’t seen anybody being advised to gulp down formulas, I don’t know what you have seen. You might remember RC Circuit from physics. I must tell you how it is taught in FIITJEE. The teacher writes down the steps to solve questions on RC Circuit and never bothers about giving the whole picture of the topic. He teaches similarly for all other chapters and in the process while a student knows how to solve questions, he/she can never make a clear picture of the subject. He even dares to say ,”Exam first and enjoying the subject later”. You are right when you say that JEE doesn’t promote rote learning but in order to gain an advantage in terms of time, students most definitely utilize rote learning.

  3. Merely saying I know this fellow or that fellow is a silly way to argue when you are dealing with an issue that involves lakhs of students. If you are a serious commentator, give us at least a few statistics : what is the avg income of an JEE NEET qualifier? How many Indian students get to prepare under a Kota like coaching system? How many of this year’s aspirants are from the cities, and how many from villages and small towns? What is their means of accessing the exam centre?
I don’t know what you learnt as an engineering student, but ar least you should admit that nothing is more concrete than data. And it is possible to get most of the data i mentioned above. Don’t be lazy : get the data and then you will find you are simply spouting nonsense.

  4. Sweet and simple…

If the students are demanding their exams(jee, neet) to be postponed by putting the genuine reason that is the pandemic, everyone(serious, non serious) is getting an equal chance to revise their syllabus which is fair..

At jee and neet level ,they are demanding their exams to be postponed and at the other side , graduate students demanding their exam should be conducted but their issue is the declined in the vacancies, even in the pandemic.

Exams like railway ntpc -not coducted even they filled the form in 2018.
Ssc CGL 2018- Waiting for their result to be declared as they due to less no. Of staffs ,result is pending(genuine).
But with the ibps they are conducting exams and are releasing notifications for other exams too, they also facing the staff crunch, but how they are doing so. Only concern is declining in vacancies.(worst impact)
    Contradictory facts.

    So, what should we do?

  5. Wow …. i srsly think this dude has a 3 year dropper son or a brother who wants it any costs or he is hard core modi bhakth who is crying inconsolably on the inside seeing the dislike on mann ki bath …
Well my above comment might be really derogatory .. well thats whats his article felt like .. Linkin every other problem in this coutry with the opposition , the left, the liberal etc … the bhakth way of seeing everything in black and white and ignoring the shades … their superb talent on GENERALISING …. well.. u know what u have not matured enough .. me being a doctor i understand that these competitive exams remain as some of the last strands for social upliftment in our otherwise corrupt society … but i also chose to think from the point of view of exm givers … this global pandemic has for forced us to sit at home .. it has unleashed an economic crisis in an already battered country thanks to modiji .. it will cripple our health care system soon .. dont u think the common man realises this .. wont he have some sort of fear before sending his only hope to an examination centre … yes thats what those protests are … FEAR …

BY THE WAY U SEEM TO BELONG TO THE UPPER ELITE CLASS/CASTE WHO HAD GOT INTO AN ELITE INSTITUTION SOLELY BECAUSE OF LACK OF ANY SOCIAL ECONIMICAL IN UR FAMILY… SO ITS OKEI U DONT REALISE STUFFS LIKE THIS …

and by the way ….. STOP JUDGING… ITS NOT UR CUP OF TEA …

  6. Several aspects have discussed in length. I only wish stress that only non serious, always under-prepared lot made hue and cry. Had it not happened now, would have created a lot of imbalance between the fresh batch and the defaulters of this exam.
The government must put efforts to make NEET also computer based online exam.

  7. Bruh, you are forgetting that this is not a normal circumstance. I myself have given JEE and NEET last year, I can understand that students are looking forward to answering the exams but, looking at the alarming rise in cases, it is illogical to put the students in harm’s way.

Btw You can’t just categorise the students as non-serious just because he/she doesn’t want to answer the exam in the current situation. The sheer anxiety due to uncertainty of day-to-day things is experienced by almost everyone, in this period of pandemic. Everyone has the right to be concerned about the well-being of their families and themselves.

Besides thermal scanning is not 100% effective as, if someone is asymptomatic they would be able to pass through without any problem. Besides not all mask provide same amount of protection, the DIY masks that majority of people use, does practically nothing in ensuring safety of the user. Ensuring 6ft distance is a whole another issue in itself, the no of centres are always packed to the brim with the candidates, ensuring that this condition is always met is always met is almost next to impossible. Besides the public transport is in shambles, many candidates might find it harder to make it in time to the designated centre. The centre’s have shared toilets too which is a separate bag of worms in itself.

The amount of possible factors that can go wrong are infinite. In this difficult times, the safety of students and citizens should be our main concern (if you wanna argue about how citizens get into this scenario, then most of the candidates come to the centre accompanied by their parents). Stop underestimating the Covid..

  8. Here is a bhakt who is trying to answer . Not just pandemic but there flere floods in many states roads have been cut off No official transport running and the govt thinks the students will fly in the air and come. It is very easy sitting in our drawing rooms and commenting as if nothing happened. Armchair politics.

  9. As these modi bhakts that there are lakhs of students protesting against it,not everything is related to politics, what they were doing is their fundamental right. So don’t be a bhakt be a country man.

  10. Excellent analysis by the author, and could very well be true. People who were clamoring for postponement, never had an answer to “what if October happens to be worse than September. Will you ask for further postponement? Are you then ready to lose a year? ” Gullible students being misled in believing that a vaccine will be out in a month. Or Private colleges backing this demand, so that admissions can be granted in an opaque manner, with capitation or fee differentials. And petty, opportunist politicians latching on to this topic for disruptive gains. Only a parent of a hard working, student with genuine intentions knows the anxiety off waiting endlessly. In that, I am happy that the exams have begun.

  11. Exactly! Those who protest are usually those who always make an excuse for their failure. Lazy students always depend on ‘tomorrow’ for starting their preparation but sadly tomorrow never comes for them. Particularly for this year, students attempting to give JEE/NEET entrance examination have all the time to prepare more than they could ever hope for. Its a shame that they are still unprepared and searching for an escape route. They make their fellow students who are serious and dedicated a mockery. Shame on them.

  12. Its true…i am a medico
Last year cracked my neet exam.
I understand the gravity and need of conducting exam within this month.
Many of my friends( both freshers and repeaters) .are still struggling and they were in tension about further postponement because it was making them frustrated revising same syllabus again and again since 3 to 4 years with a tension of further postponement in mind.
Many of my friends at coaching institute were tensed about the twitter trend as they donot use any social media so their voice cant be heard by government in case they get influenced by pstponement trend.

And best part of that trend is that most of those ‘students’ joined after july june and their average tweet was approx 4to 5tweets per minute and atleast 50 to 100 tweets within 5 hours. (Thats what my classmates in medical college discussed after observing many twitter accounts.)
    No aspirant
I repeat no aspirant have this much time to spend there.
Some students did hv genuine cause due to floods andtransportation but government is ready to help out students.
But for others..it was just a chaos
And i observed that most of those account werent even real.
I appreciate this move as corona cannot destroy one whole year of a genuine aspirant.
Seriously speaking i cant believe students are opposing due to covid.
No one want to be stuck here.
Every one dream of getting a good college as soon as possible
No one likes to ‘waste’ a year which already came out after 2 to 3 year of drops.

Anyways this was the mentality what i observed amongst my friends going to appear for neet jee and their respective classmates who mostly wanted to ‘get rid of neet’ exam so that they can also enjoy some time relaxing without any stress which is a peak level since last few months.

  13. This is hilarious. Begging money for “objective” journalism while you spew out this utterly opinionated crap with no evidence for anything the elitist author says. 10/10 journalism. So completely oblivious to a global health crisis. How do you breathe with your head so far up your a**?

  14. I am neet aspirant I am ready for both either exam held In September or postphoned but there are many problems for students
1.health risk and spread of covid 19
2.transport unavaliblity “I am 60 km away from examination centre”
    3.mind disturbance
    Etc
Keeping in view these problems exam should be held in 2021
Life of student is valuable than future

  15. If your views are personal, then keep it personal…who said everybody is getting the exam centre at the range of 100-200 km? Yes hardships are important..but does it mean we need to impose it on students deliberately??? Such a hypocrite and egoistic person you must be.

  16. Seriously? Dude if you have nothing to do, please exist quietly. People are dying okay? Families are being torn apart and there are people whose houses are submerged in water. Even the most brilliant students won’t be able to give their best if their houses and books are submerged in water. Where have we gone wrong as a country? Have we lost the sense of humanity? Atleast don’t write such contents because people are genuinely in trouble and most people think that it’s just an excuse for the students who don’t study but hey, do remember that there’s a pandemic going on and India is the third almost second worst affected country. There is no question of how well the students have prepared. THE SITUATION IS REAL. You say you’re from an NIT right? You have brains. Use them. Also remember to have a heart too because brains aren’t enough. Do know that your country is not like the others and there are people who face many many many hardships and these exams are their only source to move out from such situations but in a scenario like this, you expect them to do well?

  18. I am happy the author has hit the nail on its head. Nobody could have explained it so well. My heartfelt thanks to the author. I am a father of an aspirant, and I fully agree with the author. All students were ready in March to give exams. Then, the bandwagon clamored for postponed first due to COVID, and then due to floods. Then politicians, who have never been to college, started suggesting alternate methods. They made it a political issue, by getting drawn into it.

Some students and parents want postponement because they feel the government will relent under pressure, and allow admissions based on marks. Private colleges, waiting for this situation, will have a field day by making money on capitation and differential fee.

If a student really wants to write the exam he or she will do so, no matter what the situation is in the country. After all, a genuinely hard working student wants to move in life, progress in the academic journey, as a means to escape from this pandemic stricken monotonous life. Now that the exams have begun, let us all look at the brighter side of life.

  19. As many as 70 per cent of the students did not turn up on the first day of the Joint Entrance Examination (Main) in the two centres in Calcutta.

Of the 2,623 students who were to appear for the exam on Tuesday at the two centres, only 771 turned up, said officials associated with the exams. The centres are TCS Gitobitan in Salt Lake and the Institute of Instrumentation & Metrology in Belghoria.

The centre in Salt Lake had exams in two shifts and the one in Belghoria, about 15km north from the heart of Calcutta, had only one shift. In one of the shifts at the Salt Lake centre, more than 1,000 students did not turn up.

Tuesday’s tests were for B.Planning and B.Arch. The JEE (Main), through which most engineering colleges admit students, will continue till the end of the week.

Some students felt the exams should have been conducted in April, when there were far fewer Covid-19 patients.

“There are so many cases around now. Hence, chances of contracting the virus are also more,” said Diya Mukherjee, who travelled from New Alipore to Salt Lake. “It is uncomfortable writing a test for three hours wearing a mask and gloves. The hands became greasy and there was the constant fear of infection at the back of my mind.”

Diya, who was a student of Delhi Public School Ruby Park, appeared for the B.Arch exam on Tuesday but will not write Wednesday’s exam.

“While I was coming out I saw many students waiting outside. I decided not to come back on Wednesday because there will be more candidates and greater risk,” she said.

Some examinees complained about the quality of masks given at the exam centres. “What I usually wear is better than the one I was given at the centre,” an examinee said.

Candidates arrived from across the city as well as several districts. Many had to shell out a substantial amount to reach the venue by hiring vehicles, while others had no option but to travel in crowded public vehicles.

Candidate Rahul Kundu and his father started at dawn from Midnapore, took a bus to Howrah and then an app cab to Salt Lake.

The Telegraph reported on Monday that some examinees had decided to stay away from JEE (Main) because of the fear of contracting Covid-19. Those who decided to appear in the exam were scrambling to hire vehicles so they could travel without exposing themselves to the risk of catching the coronavirus.

    • Those who gave the exam actually are those who really want them. I had prepared two years full on for this, and i wont back away at the end mo. Life must go on

  20. Author, are you an idiot?

India is a complicated country with a high population. The number of students who are taking JEE is around 10 lacs. That’s not something you can overlook.

The country can’t provide an exam centre in every damn city. Some students have to travel a long distance to make it to the exam centre.

In a country where healthcare has collapsed long ago and we don’t have enough tests, are you sure that no student would get covid19 if he/she take the exam during these times?

Or does it not matter because it’s the necessary risk or sacrifice that the country is ready to make, just like how we handled the migrant issue? If a few kids or their family members die, it’s fine because it’s about their career. Right?

Now, let’s talk about this career issue. A few of my friends are complaining that the government had cancelled/postponed many job examinations. Why are we not conducting them? So, career is important only if you are taking admission to the college and not important when you have a degree and you need a job. Yeah, I get your point here.

The exams are already late. So, admissions will be late anyway. Then, why is it bad to have them a little late? Students will get more time to prepare. I have taken numerous entrance exam including Jee and other college tests, and I have never complained about getting more time to prepare.

In the news, I saw kids saying that they will forget if the exam is delayed. What does it mean? If you truly understand a topic, you can’t forget it even after ten years. A revision is all you need.

What about those who don’t get a good rank or qualify the exam in the first try, and then, they try again next year and get a good rank?

So, basically, the students who are asking for postponements are not the students who are not serious about it. In my opinion, the students who want it to happen now are the students who lack serious self-confidence in what they studied.

Those who want postponement are basically confident enough that they can still crack the exam even if it is taken after a while.

If you look at the stress factor, a lot of students feel stress during the exam. And are you sure that this pandemic won’t affect their stress? Imagine going you the exam while making sure in every way that you don’t touch something accidentally and take their virus to your nose.

God! It’s even stressful to take an evening walk without worrying about contracting virus. The government think that taking the exam is okay?

Sure. I get your point. Exam matters. Lives don’t. Because we did the same when migrants were suffering. We are doing the same for the young generation of India.

  21. If this would have been postponed by Pro Modi/ supporter, why is Pakistan involved and trying to stop this. A big thing. Basically the Jihadis are trying hard to stop development in any possible way.
    Hahaha. Hahaha

  22. Wow!!! Didn’t expect the print to publish such an article. None of the real problems we face are being raised in this. Before you call me non-serious NEET candidate let me tell you I scored 95% in class 12th and 566 in Neet 2019 (any Neet Aspirant will tell you that’s it not a bad score with class 12th). Secondly, I hail from a traditional BJP supportive modi loving family. So I am not a modi “baiter”.
We want exams to be postponed not because we haven’t studied it’s because of floods/ covid. Now I know covid won’t go away in 2 months. But the government has no plan the promised SOPs have failed in every previous exams. Comed-K and KCET were a disaster with lesser candidates. We want the government to make arrangements to save us because we do not trust the SOPs. Trains are not running candidates have centres 500km away in some cases. With hotels closed how will they go ? Will they go on the same day? Travel for 5-10 hours and then appear for the exam??? Talk about level playing field. NTA was asked to provide atleast 1 centre in each district and it’s no way close to it.
Also, the postpone voices were not started by the opposition in the first place. Genuine students with some teachers started trending it on Twitter with no support from any media outlet (including the print) and any political party. It became political after subramanian swamy came out in support. Get your facts right. We expect more from an independent media outlet.

  23. Bhai sahab aapka kuch point sahi hai but not all are right.Jo student 12th ke saath JEE ya NEET ka exam de rahe hai unka to syllabus till November tak ho jata hai jo Coching le rahe hote hai lekin jo droppers hai kya unka padhai March tak complete ho jata hai nahi to unka kya hoga jo online padhne ke liye capable nahi the unka time waste hua na government unke liye kiya kiya . Mai 2021 me board ke saath JEE dunga aur agar Jan me exam le liya jayega to loss hua yo kaise recover karenge. Bhai india me yahi do exams nahi hai aur bhi exams hai ex-SSC, Railway , Banking, etc kya unka exams time pe liya gaya jo 2-2,3-3 year se wait kar rahe aur unemployment increase kar rahe hai ,inka kya hoga batau.kai students ka age last ho gaya yo kya karenge ,because government ko unki paisa dena padega after job .lekin jee ,Neet walo se paisa lena bas isi liye government itna excitement dikha rahi hai. Marne wale marte rahe(students) koi problem nahi government ko. Ham sabhi students ka slogan hai” Modi hatao desh bachao”. Thank you.

  24. If this would have been postponed by Pro Modi/ supporter, why is Pakistan involved and trying to stop this. A big thing. Basically the Jihadis are trying hard to stop development in any possible way.

  25. We understand that you are a damn blind follower. That’s why you are fetching propaganda and fake news supporting the govt. I don’t know why article from this website came into my timeline. Going to block it immediately

  26. The writer was a student in the same position as these aspirants at least a decade ago. Isn’t that just everybody your age in this country? How does that make you special enough to comment on the plight of today’s aspirants? Also how do you even decide on the ‘seriousness’ of another student? Is that why you left your edu credentials here, to validate your seriousness radar? And you have conveniently skipped backing your many sweeping assumptions with facts or statistics. There wasn’t a pandemic of this scale ravaging the country 10 years ago, on top of several states and regions being in various stages of systemic lockdown! Do not undermine a person’s fear for their life or their family’s just because they are a student and hence are “meant to” only focus on studying and clearing exams. Otherwise what, they’ll be judged on their authentic preparation, their seriousness?!

    • Isnt Muhammad Narendra Mulla Modi ‘s masters already in Pakistan and China ???

We know the main reason why Islamic Jihadi party BJP is conducting exams, they want to DEPOPULATE India. Bharat Jihadi Party brought the coronavirus to India by means like Tabliki Jamaat, running of trains and flights through March, their next step in DEPOPULATION OF INDIA is not just exams, they want to open up schools. Islamic party BJP’s target death count is no less than 10 lakhs. Muhammed Narendra Mulla Modi’s award from Gates Foundation says a lot..

  27. My doubt is that why this channel only put forward supporting modi government and the saled foolish hrd mininster Nishank
Can’t you see the matters out there
This is the reason that we consider all news papers like toilet papers

‘ We ashamed to be an Indian ‘

Lets take an example. You all media put the visual inside the campus which in favour with modis sop.
But you all dont even put a photo of the mass crowd that is outside the campus infront of gate and all.
    Cant you make any sence
You media, modi government, that nishak all make us to say
‘ We ashamed to be an Indian ‘

  30. Uneducated politicians have to hear their own voice. Nobody else gives credence. The so called suffering students are able to roam the streets and malls, that too without masks. One can see them hanging out in groups everywhere. But, they can’t write an exam. I fail to understand what role the parents have in all this. The protesting politicians had threatened to move the Supreme Court. Why didn’t they. The rascals knew that the court would throw them out.

  31. Writer doesn’t understand pandemic and ABCD of epidemiology…plus public administration points are totally missing…dude your article was pretty much all over the place expect important target points.

  32. When a person compare IIT with bollywood zeros I can understand his iq & knowledge of understanding things around it.. The most funny part is they are publishing this kind of article is unimaginable.. Great going The Print.

  33. Bramhin naturally supporter of RS follower of Nodi, who thinks himself more intelectual than those are requesting for not cancellation but for deferring

  36. 1st of all why government is not taking railway and bank exams why neet and jee…..see the level of money government earn by these two exams are very much..i don’t know about much fees structure but IIT students annual fees is about more than 1 lakhs and doctors lol the private colleges take more than 30 lakhs as token money only… of course of gdp is going in minus and government need to make money at last people like us suffer….

  37. There was no justification in any of the points you made. You choose to ignore that a highly contagious virus is on rise and this is the main reason for which we are demanding postpoenement. Please stop this toxic journalism and spreading fake propaganda.
You should be ashamed to call yourself a journalist. Shame on you.

  38. Bokuas boltay hai .This report is fake. Our govt is not sympathetic towards the students.
Good journalism should not be one sided.

  39. even you are ex kota student…..
.dont include politics and parents grievance to not send their ward in pandemic ……..if it is such then why don’t you go and do work to make hospitals for corona or work as doctor……..why post useless post……..
we ppl not want neet to be cancelled instead just postponed till diwali ………as many students while rushing back in lockdown even didn’t take study materials…….wht about them

  40. You are the reason behind the corruption.Being a media official you lack authenticity we students are struggling and you are here providing all false news.Be a part of that 28 lac student and get a taste of how arrogant our government is.This year I could finally say India as a countryside has lost its democracy under BJP and Media play.

  41. If you guys don’t know then let me tell you.. Our country to no whole world is suffering from COVID19.. Andojr country is at 3rd position for that… And even broke the record of highest corona cases in 24 hours… Heard of that???
More than 12 states facing floods…. Heard of that?? I think no
The request for postponing the exams are genuine.. Don’t make it political issue…
We are not against modi sir…

  42. I’m also a former Kota student, got a reasonable rank in JEE, and studies CS into a Tier 1 school. Hopefully that qualifies as a serious student, in your eyes.

Now, pray tell me, did you do a random sample survey to assert that students don’t want this? And it’s only Modi “haters” who are protesting? Your assertions are without any basis and reek of elitist mentality. I would have most probably skipped the exam if there was even one person above 60 years old in my household. I imagine many students would have this issue, they might be okay taking the risk themselves but can’t afford to risk the lives of their relatives.

Government needs to figure out a gameplan to conduct these exams and ensure access, at a time when there is minimal public transport and the whole situation is fraught with many failure points.
