New Delhi: The Rajasthan Police Monday detained three suspects, including a minor, in connection with the gun attack targeting Bollywood actor Tiger Shroff in Mumbai’s Juhu, sources in the police told ThePrint. The trio, caught in Kota, reportedly includes the two suspected shooters who fired five rounds at Shroff’s vehicle Sunday night.

While Shroff escaped any major injury, his driver Firdosh was among two people hospitalised over wounds sustained in the attack. The second person injured has been identified as Umesh Chauhan, an auto driver.

According to the sources, the minor belongs to Haryana’s Sonipat. They identified the other suspects as Rehan from the same district, and Ritik Kumar from Bihar’s Begusarai district. The latter is said to work as a rider for a ride-hailing application in Mumbai.

“They were detained by a joint team of the Anti-Gangster Task Force and Kota district police, on the inputs of the Mumbai Police about their movement on the Pune-Jaipur Express,” a Rajasthan Police officer told ThePrint. “They will be handed over to the Mumbai Police as per established procedure.”

The development comes shortly after Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said that the Mumbai Police had already identified the suspects behind the attack, and that they would be arrested soon. Fadnavis, who also holds the home portfolio in the state, came under heavy criticism from the opposition over the firing incident, with questions raised about the law-and-order situation in India’s financial capital and the safety of influential people.

The shooting took place around 7 pm outside a football ground in Juhu. Shortly after the incident, a text post appeared on social media claiming responsibility for the shooting in the name of jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, and issuing threats against working with Bollywood star Salman Khan, whose house was the target of a similar attack in April 2024.

“Jai Mahakal… Jai Shri Ram! Greetings to all our brothers. Regarding what happened to Tiger Shroff today, Anil Pandit and Harman Sandhu take full responsibility. We tried to explain things to him over the phone, but he didn’t seem to understand, so today we made sure he did. Let this be a warning: anyone in the Mumbai film industry who refuses to listen to us or chooses to work with Salman Khan will be next,” said the social media post, which went viral shortly after the incident.

This report was updated to correct an error in the name of one of the suspects.

Nine Years, Made Possible by Readers

In 2017, Shekhar Gupta started ThePrint with a simple belief: Indian readers want journalism that asks why and what next, not just what. And that enough of them would be willing to pay for good journalism.

Nine years on, that belief has held.

And, in these nine years, we’ve stayed true to our mission. We’ve been asking the follow-up questions, going beyond the headlines and explaining what’s actually happening. We’ve travelled across the country to bring you in-depth, visually-compelling stories from the ground.

It’s been nine years of readers choosing to make this possible. If you’d like to be one of them:
