New Delhi: The Mumbai Police has launched an investigation after Bollywood actor Tiger Shroff was allegedly shot at in the Juhu area of the metropolitan city Sunday evening. According to police officials, multiple rounds were fired at Shroff’s vehicle when the actor was leaving a venue under the Juhu police station jurisdiction.

Senior police officers said Shroff was not hurt in the firing and was unharmed. His driver, however, was reportedly injured in the attack.

Shortly after the incident, a text post appeared on social media claiming responsibility for the shooting in the name of jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi. The post also contained a threat against those who work with Bollywood star Salman Khan, whose house was the target of a similar attack in April 2024.

“Jai Mahakal… Jai Shri Ram! Greetings to all our brothers. Regarding what happened to Tiger Shroff today, Anil Pandit and Harman Sandhu take full responsibility. We tried to explain things to him over the phone, but he didn’t seem to understand, so today we made sure he did. Let this be a warning: anyone in the Mumbai film industry who refuses to listen to us or chooses to work with Salman Khan will be next,” said the social media post, which went viral.

Sources in the Mumbai Police said it was premature to confirm the motive claimed in the social media post, and the same remains under probe. Police said a preliminary investigation has been launched and the process of registering an FIR in the case is currently underway.

The development comes after Mumbai Police enhanced Khan’s security in light of persistent threats from the Bishnoi gang. In 2024, two individuals on a bike fired at the first-floor balcony of Khan’s residence. The Mumbai Police subsequently arrested six accused and charged nine, including Lawrence Bishnoi and his brother Anmol Bishnoi.

In the chargesheet filed before a special Mumbai Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) court in the city, the Mumbai Police crime branch submitted a statement by Khan, who said he believed Bishnoi had orchestrated the firing at his residence with an intention to kill him.

Nine Years, Made Possible by Readers

In 2017, Shekhar Gupta started ThePrint with a simple belief: Indian readers want journalism that asks why and what next, not just what. And that enough of them would be willing to pay for good journalism.

Nine years on, that belief has held.

And, in these nine years, we’ve stayed true to our mission. We’ve been asking the follow-up questions, going beyond the headlines and explaining what’s actually happening. We’ve travelled across the country to bring you in-depth, visually-compelling stories from the ground.

It’s been nine years of readers choosing to make this possible. If you’d like to be one of them:
