New Delhi: The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), the students’ wing of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) Wednesday said genuine concerns and legitimate demands of students should not be exploited for “narrow political interests, anti-national agendas, or to create an atmosphere of instability, conflict, and chaos in the country”.
The statement comes amid ongoing protests by students and youth in the national capital. The protest is spearheaded by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP).
Deploring the violent confrontation between security forces and certain “anarchic elements claiming to be students”, the Sangh’s student wing said, “ABVP believes that certain political interests and anti-social elements attempted to incite anarchy and violence under the guise of the students’ legitimate movement; ABVP strongly condemns this.”
In a statement issued by the organisation, it further said, “legitimate student issues should be resolved through dialogue, transparency, and institutional reforms”, and it termed the violent confrontation “unfortunate”.
It also urged the Modi government to constitute a high-level committee to ensure transparency and institutional reforms in competitive examinations. Students, it said, will not become tools for narrow political interests or anti-national conspiracies.
“ABVP demands that the government of India constitute a high-level committee to conduct an in-depth review of the various aspects concerning the integrity, transparency, and necessary institutional reforms of competitive examinations, and to submit concrete, time-bound recommendations to make the examination system more credible and accountable,” the statement said.
The ABVP’s statement comes at a time when anger is evident among students and parents across the country regarding the NEET exam paper leak, which led to protests at Jantar Mantar.
“Such malicious attempts empower anti-India mechanisms—akin to a ‘deep state’—that have long sought opportunities to undermine India’s internal stability, integrity, sovereignty, and unity, and to foster social discord. The student community of India is vigilant, committed to the nation, and deeply dedicated to democratic values; it will not allow itself to become a tool for political manipulation, external influence, or anti-national conspiracies,” it added.
It also appealed to students, youth, parents, teachers, educationists, and all stakeholders in society to play their part in maintaining a positive, peaceful, and democratic environment for resolving legitimate student issues—keeping them free from political manipulation and provocation—and to avoid falling prey to anti-national conspiracies.
The organisation also expressed sympathy for the students and security personnel injured in the protests and hoped that such confrontations would not recur.
“Irregularities in various competitive examinations, including NEET-UG, have heightened the concerns of lakhs of students across the country. ABVP has stood by the students on these legitimate issues from the very beginning. Any attempt to divert the students’ justified demands to serve narrow political interests amounts to an injustice against student interests,” said Virendra Singh Solanki, national general secretary of the ABVP.
“Student power cannot be allowed to be utilised to further the agendas of political groups or to serve the interests of forces working against India’s unity, integrity, and social harmony,” he added.
“Such misguided attempts indirectly empower anti-India mechanisms—akin to a ‘deep state’—that have long sought to undermine India’s internal stability and sovereignty. Solutions to the students’ legitimate concerns must be ensured solely through meaningful dialogue, sensitivity, and institutional reforms,” he said.
