New Delhi: Imran Khan’s comeback is official. The actor will star in the upcoming Netflix original Adhure Hum Adhure Tum. The film is currently in post-production and is slated for release later this year.
“It’s my first movie in 10 years, and we’re in post-production right now. It’s a grown-up romantic comedy appropriate to where I am now,” he told The Hollywood Reporter India.
Khan shared that the film represents his journey and evolution over the years, adding that it is not a conventional commercial entertainer.
The actor will once again team up with director Danish Aslam. Aslam also directed Break Ke Baad starring Deepika Padukone and Khan. The title for the Netflix film appears to be inspired by lyrics from the 2019 film’s song ‘Adhoore’.
Much like Break Ke Baad, the new film sees Imran exploring the complexities of relationships. The dysfunctional romantic drama, Adhure Hum Adhure Tum, also stars Bhumi Pednekar and Gurfateh Pirzada and follows the story of a divorced father.
Khan was last seen in Katti Batti (2015) starring alongside Kangana Ranaut. Directed by Nikhil Advani, the film revolved around the complicated relationship between Maddy and Payal. After being in a live-in relationship for five years, Payal suddenly disappears without any warning. Maddy sets out to find her, only to discover that she is preparing to marry her former boyfriend. Made on a budget of nearly Rs 32 crore, the film collected around Rs 38 crore worldwide.
After Katti Batti, however, Khan stepped back from the limelight, but in 2018, he wrote and directed the documentary Mission Mars: Keep Walking India, produced by Dharma 2.0. The documentary is based on India’s Mars Orbiter Mission, which successfully entered Mars orbit on its first attempt after China and Russia had failed in earlier attempts. It documents the journey and the process behind the historic mission.
“This is a story of tremendous human accomplishment and achievement. And it is something done by the unlikeliest of people; India is not the country you immediately think of when it comes to space travel and space exploration,” Khan said.
He most recently made a cameo appearance in Vir Das’s Happy Patel: Khatarnak Jasoos (2026), where he played international supermodel Milind Morena.
