New Delhi: Over 100 members of the Pakistani diplomatic staff took out a ‘Kashmir Solidarity Walk’ in Delhi on Friday — on their High Commission premises on Shantipath. This followed Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan’s clarion call to his country’s public to come out in huge numbers for at least 30 minutes to show their support for the people of Kashmir.
Khan had tweeted Thursday: “I want all Pakistanis to come out tomorrow 12 noon -12.30 pm to show solidarity with the Kashmiri people and send the Kashmiris in IOK a clear message that the entire Pakistani nation stands in solidarity with them & against Indian fascist oppression, the inhumane (sic) 24-day curfew.”

And the Pakistan High Commission obliged. Diplomats, their spouses and children took part in the “walk”, as did the support staff and their families.
“All the diplomats, staff members, families and children walked from the Fatimah Jinnah Street till the Chancery’s fountain. The children held banners, and raised slogans with national zeal and fervor to express solidarity with the Kashmiri people. National Anthem and national songs were also played,” stated a release issued by the Pakistani High Commission.
The walk went on for about 30 minutes, and Acting High Commissioner Syed Haider Shah addressed the participants.
“This peaceful demonstration is also a message for the international community to fulfill their promises that they had made to the Kashmiri people. We want to assure our Kashmiri brothers and sisters that in this difficult hour Pakistan stands united with them, and that Pakistan would continue to extend full diplomatic, political and moral support until they get all their rights including the right to self-determination,” Shah said.
Pakistan had appointed its current Ambassador to France, Monaco and the UNESCO, Moin ul Haque, as its envoy to India. However, after the Pakistani government downgraded diplomatic ties with India, he didn’t take charge. India’s High Commissioner to Islamabad Ajay Bisaria has also had to return due to this decision.

Chanakyapuri must be one of the most beautiful diplomatic enclaves in the world. I used to drive past the Pakistani High Commission, with its distinctive blue domes, on my way to work. With the current chill, it will be a while before a High Commissioner is posted.
When there is no envoy to India then why should Pakistan commission organize any events in India. This is a political event and it should be banned as it’s not a part of Vienna convention.
