New Delhi: China is maintaining a stony silence on the killing of 37 CRPF personnel in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwama Thursday even as condemnation against Pakistan is pouring in from all corners of the world.

While the international community has spoken in unison against Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) that has claimed responsibility for the suicide attack, Beijing hasn’t made a statement either expressing grief or calling out Islamabad for allowing its land to breed terror.

India has tried thrice to get JeM chief Masood Azhar to be sanctioned as a designated terrorist at the UN Security Council but China has blocked its move every time. The last such attempt was made in December 2017.

In a late night statement, Pakistan’s foreign ministry ruled out its role in the dastardly attacks while calling it a matter of “grave concern”. The statement added that Pakistan has always condemned acts of terror that have taken place anywhere in the world.

However, Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan has not yet spoken against the attack that was carried out with an SUV packed with 350 kg of explosives that rammed into a CRPF convoy.

‘Stop terror organisations’

After the attacks, the Ministry of External Affairs urged the international community to now back India’s proposal in listing Azhar as a designated terrorist and to ban terrorist organisations operating from Pakistan.

In a press statement, the White House said Pakistan should immediately stop providing safe haven to terrorists and terror organisations.

“This attack only strengthens our resolve to bolster counterterrorism cooperation and coordination between United States and India,” it said.

As many as 11 US senators and over 15 members of the House of Representatives have condemned the attack that took place in the Pulwama district of Kashmir.

Russia, Iran, Maldives, Afghanistan, Sri Lanka, Turkey, Bangladesh, Thailand, Germany, Bhutan, Nepal, France and Australia have also strongly spoken out against the attacks.
