The first day of the BRICS leaders’ summit will begin with a closed session at the Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi, followed by a joint photo and tree plantation session, and a dinner to be hosted by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Chinese President Xi Jinping, Russian President Vladimir Putin and South African President Cyril Ramaphosa are in the national capital for the summit, besides Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto, Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko, Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, and UN Secretary-GeneralAntónio Guterres.
The summit comes at a crucial moment, with the escalating conflict in West Asia and the war in Ukraine in its fifth year.

8 am: Delhi gears up for BRICS leaders’ summit
Leaders of BRICS member states will meet at Bharat Mandapam at 2 PM today for on “Inclusive Global Governance and Strengthening Multilateralism”. This will be followed by an exhibition, joint photo and tree plantation.
Towards the evening, Prime Minister Modi will then host a dinner for the dignitaries.
