The meeting between Rajnath Singh and Wei Fenghe marks the first face-to-face talks between the Indian & Chinese political leaderships since tensions erupted in May.
While China has sought a meeting with Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, who is in Russia now, Jaishankar is expected to meet Wang Yi at SCO meet in Moscow next week.
The move by India, both in Southern and Northern banks of the Pangong Lake, comes after talks with China reached a stalemate with PLA refusing to budge from its positions.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will leave for Russia Wednesday for the SCO meet. His Chinese counterpart will also attend, but no bilateral meet is scheduled.
