President Gotabaya Rajapaksa is failing to restore calm in Sri Lanka despite securing his PM-brother Mahinda’s resignation. This crisis can’t be allowed to spiral out of control. Colombo needs all-party unity to get protesters to end violence along with more international assistance. Spending cuts and tax increases can then follow.

SC’s suspension of sedition law historic. Modi govt must use this opening to bury it for good

The Supreme Court should be complimented for taking a clear and historic position to keep the sedition law in abeyance. It should follow this up with lower courts to speedily free those languishing in jails for sedition. Modi government should use this opening to bury this obnoxious law for good.
