Former minister Anand Sharma’s public outburst against Congress party’s alliance with Muslim cleric Abbas Siddiqui in Bengal heralds a long summer of discontent. The Gandhis mustn’t treat it as another attention-seeking tantrum by G-23. Their cavalier leadership is upsetting even the rank and file. New rivals are eyeing their vote.

TV news viewership grew 3 times in India — doesn’t mean it was good

  1. Most of G 23 consists of individuals who have been family loyalists all their lives. Few could win a Lok Sabha seat. They know how the Congress party operates at the apex. The fact that they are rebelling is a total vote of no confidence in the leadership of Shri Rahul Gandhi. He has been given seventeen years to prove himself. The family should give up its lust for power, allow the party to rebuild itself, occupy opposition space.

  2. Shri Praveen Sawhney has been warning about this for a long time. About impressive Chinese capabilities in space, cyber, other non conventional forms of warfare. India has impressive strengths in IT – as a layperson, one believes that should help us in developing our own capabilities.

  3. More people watching news – provided it is not sourced from Republic – is a good thing. We can hope that the channels will provide a better product, reporting from where things are happening, not simply by setting up more debates in the studios.
