Ukraine’s outreach to India is about constructive engagement of a rising power that has bridged the broken links between East and West and North and South on many occasions.
While releasing 'India Employment Report 2024', V Anantha Nageswaran said govt can't solve 'all social, economic challenges'. Congress leader Kharge says CEA protecting 'dear leader'.
In an interview with Gulistan News this week, Union Home Minister Amit Shah said the government would leave law and order to J&K Police and slowly withdraw troops.
The ‘idea’ Kejriwal's politics grew around was a no-holds-barred fight against corruption. That is the reason Modi govt has now tarred him and his entire party with the same paint.
Pure nostalgia. I draw attention of the readers to one unique aspect of the film. It is a song which has word ‘ I love you’ in different languages (courtesy-Sudhir- many thanks): German, French, Ukrainian, Hindi or Urdu. The opening lyrics were bit confusing:
ich liebe dich
I love you
j’ vous t’aime
I love you
ya lyublyu vas (Я люблю вас)
I love you
ishq hai ishq
I love you
The song was sung by one Vivian Lobo, who used to sing in a Churchgate restaurant frequented by Jaikishan( probably near present day Shankar-Jaikishan Chowk). No further information about the singer is now available. He sang very well. So also the great Mohd Rafi, whose song ‘ Ye Mera Prem Patra Sun Kar” is omitted here.
A beautifully entertaining film in which all three main characters excel in last half hour. Subtle, albeit strong messages on gender equality, patriarchy and women objectification, the last one nicely conveyed in Vyjayanthimala’s ‘domestic cabaret’ number. The song ‘yeh mera prem patra padh kar’ may make its way to the list of of top 10 Hindi romantic songs. But please, if a remake is ever done, please change the climax, even if it ends in polyandry.
Amused to read ‘Binaca’! I was the Head of that business and saw it’s growth and transformation to Cibaca….the brand now belongs to Dabur. And who from that generation doesn’t love Ameen Sayani!

Those were the days of Binaca Geet Mala as well. Sangam would have been right on top.
