If the goal is to correct caste‑based injustice, then reservations should either be drawn only from the Hindu portion of the electorate (so Hindu Dalits are compensated out of Hindu‑only seats), or SC status and benefits should be extended to converted Dalits who still face the same social disadvantage—otherwise the existing structure is arbitrary and disproportionately penalises religious minorities. Additionally, the popular assumption that the Constitution doesn’t have religion based reservation is bogus if this arbitrariness continues.
