I doubt whether CJI would recommend Gogoi as successor.
I think it is time parliament declared that the collegium system is unconstitutional and curb the powers of Courts to interfere with Executive and legislature.
The best way this can be acieved would be to bifurcate the Supreme Court into Appellate division and Constitutional bench. The appellate Division will sit at each of the seats of High court. That will break the back of the “senior lawyer” caucus also.
