Bengal will have more legal migration because of more thrust on education, largely as a society than Gujarat. Illegal migration from Gujarat is happening largely from rural areas. Farming is no more a profitable way to earn livelihood when the produce from the fixed area has to be shared amongst ever growing families. lack/poor quality of education doesn’t give them enough money to take care of their aspirations.
It seems hard to fathom what the purpose and intent of this article is. Is it a critique of the current government’s policies or a defense of the Gujarati diaspora. Some obvious facts which Vir Sanghvi overlooks, why would your American cousins and extended families vote out here as they don’t have the legaL right to do so.
