With more than 120 MLAs cross-voting for Droupadi Murmu in the presidential poll, non-BJP parties could face a challenge keeping their flock together ahead of elections in some states.
Murmu, the NDA candidate, got 2824 votes, compared to opposition candidate Yashwant Sinha's 1877. She will be sworn in on 25 July, a day after President Ram Nath Kovind's term ends.
Uttarakhand govt transferred officials for alleged failure to provide ‘proper’ car for NDA presidential nominee’s airport travel. Officials in question blame airport director.
Many people from Murmu’s village have neither heard of Raisina Hill, nor are they aware of the limitations of constitutional powers of the President of India.
The party will support the opposition candidate, said Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh after a political advisory committee (PAC) meeting on Saturday. Voting for the Presidential poll will begin on Monday.
Bonhomie between PM Modi & Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren of JMM during their meet Tuesday sets off buzz as party yet to make its stand clear on Droupadi Murmu.
A theme has not yet emerged for BJP & people see lack of a contest, which makes it unexciting. For all these reasons, 2024 is turning out to be an unexpectedly theme-less election.
