The world is digital. If one does not exist on paper, one does not exist. India is going digital in a big way. If a citizen doesn’t exist on paper, processes like the NPR / Voter ID / Ration Card / UID are the only ways they will.
A citizen of India had the right to vote. If they don’t have the paperwork right now, then they’re not benefitting from being a citizen ie being able to vote. They are already not exercising their franchise. This logic seems to be lost in people.
So if people are really concerned about disenfranchised people, he’s a suggestion, engage in voter registration drives (it’ll help your politics too) and awareness campaigns around the NPR instead of fanning flames of confusion and boycott.
The CAA may be defeated in court, but the census and a citizenship register will always be a part of a country. In a digital world, how else will a country know how, and to whom, to direct benefits, subsidies, reservations, resources etc .. ?
Mobilization is good, but digital identities are better.

What their media is saying is on the net. What foreign governments are saying, partly in public, partly in private, must cause deep unease. 2. There is speculation about a Cabinet reshuffle early in the new year. May it lead to extensive course correction.
