The Congress president said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi doesn’t see his pain from the violent deaths in the Gandhi family.

New Delhi: Congress president Rahul Gandhi has said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi uses the “frame” of “hatred and anger” against his family and doesn’t see the pain that came due to the violent deaths of his grandmother Indira Gandhi and father Rajiv Gandhi, both former Indian prime ministers.

In the interview to Gulf News Monday, Gandhi also suggested that his party was ready to contest alone in Uttar Pradesh where the Samajwadi Party and the Bahujan Samaj Party have been reluctant to accommodate it in their alliance.

“We are trying to bring opposition together… I have heard some statements in the media but we are going to work together and make sure that we defeat Mr Modi. But I just want to say again – to underestimate the Congress in UP is a big mistake,” Gandhi said.

‘Modi doesn’t talk to me’

The Congress chief said that the Prime Minister doesn’t talk to him.

“He (Modi) meets and greets in monosyllables… he will say ‘hello’…. Mr Narendra Modi has a lot of anger and a lot of what he says about me comes from that anger. But there are certain things that he says which I listen to.

“For example, the frame he uses against my family… there is an element of that frame which is hatred and anger. And there is another element that says ‘look, you come from a position where you have had certain advantages’ and it is true! I have to take into account that truth, I can’t deny the fact that my family was in politics.”

“But what Mr Narendra Modi doesn’t see is the pain that has come, the violence that has come, the lessons I have learnt… You are handed cards and in every card has two sides (sic). Mr Modi has certain disadvantages and advantages. The biggest that Mr Modi has given me is that I listen now, I listen very deeply,” Gandhi said.

  1. He is very very wrong. But, even if he is only PARTIALLY right, it owes entirely to the hatred and contempt shown by him, his mother and his sister towards Modi, EVER SINCE MODI BECAME PM. His entire family has nothing but contempt on a personal level towards Modi. And that is actually and clearly evident in their words, deeds and behaviour towards Modi.

  2. The violent deaths of Indira and Rajiv were due to their own wrong policies and personal mistakes. Indir a should never have kept Sikh bodyguards after the attack on the golden temple in June 1984. Similarly Rajiv was strongly advised by security agencies against mingling with crowds, but he ignored that. There was no need to send the Indian army to Lanka. The Nehru dynasty is under a cloud regarding the deaths of Lal bahadur Sastry and nagarvala and has not cleared the allegations

  3. Rahulji, not just Modi, the entire country despises your family. Do you think we will forget how your family subverted the Indian Constitution for a decade by remote-controlling the PM? Are we going to forget how your family looted and allowed others loot India for a decade at an unprecedented scale? Can we forget how your family ran the government through a kangaroo committee called NAC filled with washed up communists and anti-Hindu activists? Should we forget how your family snuffed out the aspirations of a generation of young people through your policy paralysis and unwillingness to make decisions? You want us to forget that you think “Hindu terrorism” is the biggest threat to India? Your family, going back generations, has been the bane of our aspirations and hopes. We ask you and your family to kindly step away and free the Congress party from your clutches. We need a Congress party that can elect its leaders from states based on merit and performance. Instead, what we have now is a bunch of power brokers sitting in Delhi around your family and choking the party out of talent and motivation. Your party is dying, slowly but surely. Don’t let a couple of victories here and there fool you otherwise. Your family richly deserves the hatred and scorn of a billion+ Indians.

  4. Rahulji, you know that you, your mom, your sis and your jeeja have already milked India and have reaped disproportionately huge benefits capitalising on the martyrdoms you remind us about. Can you please reveal your mom’s present net worth? Two billion dollars?
Among the two martyrs you speak of, your grand-mom at least slogged for becoming PM, though she was a master-manipulator and trampled down other deserving candidates. But your dad appeared from nowhere, cynically riding on the sentiments of gullible Indians and became India’s PM which he had no business to do.
Not only Mr Modi but there are millions of Indians who are angry and, yes, hateful, because your dynasty kept three generations of us Indians poor with your greed for power and incompetence. Your Party always stood for the poor; for this you had to keep the people poor, otherwise whom do you stand for? Unfortunately the voters have been illiterate and gullible to let them do this. But no more.
