New Delhi: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has used the words ‘strategy’, ‘strategic’ and ‘strategically’ as many as 34 times in his 57-minute media interaction on the coronavirus pandemic Thursday and it has now become a topic of discussion among his political adversaries.

The former Congress president used the three words more than once every minute while offering his suggestions to the Narendra Modi government on how to deal with the coronavirus crisis. This prompted the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders and its allies to take potshots at the Congress leader on social media.

“How to use the word ‘strategy’ 32 times in single press conference without elaborating what strategy is he proposing? Just asking?” tweeted BJP’s in-charge of foreign affairs department Vijay Chauthaiwale.

Manjinder Singh Sirsa, leader of BJP ally Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) and president of Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee, also took to Twitter and posted a clip of Gandhi’s press conference in which he can be seen using the word “strategically” several times.

BJP MP from Delhi Parvesh Sahib Singh also retweeted Sirsa’s tweet and wrote: “Very strategic”.

BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra took a swipe at Gandhi in a series of tweets.

“I am laughing STRATEGICALLY and rolling on the floor DYNAMICALLY,” he wrote in one of his tweets.

Testing a strategic weapon: Gandhi

During the press conference, Gandhi first used the word ‘strategic’ while commenting on the lockdown.

The Congress leader advocated a “strategic opening” of the lockdown in which certain key areas should be opened first.

“When we come out of the lockdown, the virus is going to start its work again. So it is very important that we have a strategy to come out of the lockdown,” Gandhi said.

Asking the government to take care of the migrant population and feed the needy, Gandhi said: “My advice is give out as much money to the poorest, weakest people as you can. Strategically karna hai, simple tareeke se nahi hoga… strategically soch kar (We have to do it strategically, can’t do it in a simple manner, we have to think strategically)”.

Gandhi also criticised the slow testing rate of India, which, he said, is not enough to fight the pandemic.

“Testing is our main weapon against the virus… It is a strategic weapon, it has to be used like a strategic weapon,” he added.

Cheap reaction: Congress

Reacting to the mock and ridicule for Gandhi, Pranav Jha, AICC secretary in-charge, communications, said such “lampooning is compulsion of the ‘BJP SM-Factory’ which employs thousands to attack and discredit the opponent, and distract people from issues”.

“The entire nation watched Rahul Gandhi yesterday, and even our worst enemies and haters found it outstanding. Many of them from the BJP privately called and said so,” he said.

“Rahul ji spoke live and with faultless passion in front of millions and they are the judge. Perhaps it’s the nervousness in Modi ji’s cheerleaders that their leader can’t do without teleprompter or cut-paste videos, is what made them react as cheaply as they did,” Jha added.

  1. To keep the critics at day is cleverness of bjp hooligansism….Bjp is supporter of Capitalism.
Ex Ambanis…Jingling…so on……USa president is himself is a Capitalist as well….
Fight is on against capitalist….mark my words

  2. Narendra knows how to win an election, Rahul knows how to run a country. May be each can be allowed to do what he does best? Let Modi win elections since it pleases him but let Rahul Gandhi run the country…

  3. Pappu only knows how to STRATEGICALLY insite student naam ka gundas or migrants for free distribution whether water or disease..”Strategically” pinning outside desh drohis to instigate unrest in Bharat,, STRATEGICALLY APPOINTING AND FUNDING besharmi log jaise Arundhati Roy and swara bhaskar bitches in social media…aur tho wo baht hee bhola hain….bhola villain.

  4. After watching this video all you can think is of is how thankful we are that we have elected Modi and are not left to mercy of this retards strategy

    • Speak for yourself lady. Voting for modi has been the biggest blunder of my life. Now it feels like all the intelligentia have been cornered and hooligans have captured the country.

  5. Well obviously, BJP and it’s cronies hate the word “strategic” or “thinking”. If there is anything the past 6 years has shown is that the PM and BJP has literally no ability to think beyond announcements and drama. The country has been paying for his allergy to strategy or expert advice like for demonetisation and GST. And now we have the lockdown, again with zero preparedness. The joker gives more warning for his twitter account takeover than he does for life changing announcements like Demo or the lockdown. Also the bhakts who keep supporting him are also the ones who will most probably the worst affected, given most of them are middle class and uneducated hicks. Good luck, keep supporting Nero – while he keeps laughing at your stupidity

    • This d#mbf#$k almost said ” you can f%¢k the virus “…..And these chamchas Pappu Ko chane ke jhaad par chada rahe hai …..

Good bless bootlicker & slave mentality followers !!!

And yes one more thing….this sickular brigade would cry like this at least for next 10 years ….Brace yourself

  6. It is sad that, a person who cautoned the government to take Coronavirus seriously and start preparing way back in February continues get reduculed even now. Instead of ignoring, if the government has implemented physical distancing programs and prohibited all sorts of gatherings beginning with place of worship, spread could have been reduced. Of course, if it had happened they would not have got chance to use TJ event viza vis Muslims.

    • Modi had to do Namaste Trump and Shivraj had to oust MP government by bribing MLAs. How could they take action in February. Be reasonable.

    • Excellent description of these 2 men !

And then, one might also add that RaGa does not have a pogrom or the blood of innocent Muslims in Naroda Patiya on his hands.

  7. Let our dear PM address a press conference, honestly answer all the questions without using the word ” Strategy”. That will be the best strategy to counter Rahul.

  8. He is a man with almost no intellect, devoid of IQ, doesn’t have grasp of subject, lacks understanding and speaks incoherently and he is the leader of India’s oldest political party. Truly he makes a laughing stock of himself. Why blame BJP for it. Even congressmen privately admit that this man is a huge liability for the party but in public they have to make a show of solidarity with him. In fact in the past many congressmen have openly spoken about his childish behaviour and lack of intelligence. What was supposed to be one more promotion for Rahul fell flat and boomeranged on the Congress. They could have used Pilot or any other leader or used many of the journos which they have at their neck and call.

  9. So whst ? Have some sympathy for the man. Strategy is the only word he learnt for the day. Don’t expect anything more. Did you ?

  10. Pappu chamchas are celebrating. Look this guy is a duffer. All he needs to do is take charge (i.e take responsibility in states he is in power). Come up with innovative solutions over and above what is already being done.
This guy has got a perennial diarrhea. He will never do anything positive. As an MP he will not go to his constituency and advocate social distancing.
However chamchas have their tongues out and grabbing whatever comes out.

  11. It is sad that Rahul Gandhi is not havin like minded and educated people near him. We shouldn’t mind his mistakes and let us make him a good congress leader like Lal Bahadur Shastri. Ofcourse at present we have the best leader in the world i.e., Modiji, none can equal him at present or future.

    • Mr Nv Satyanarayana: Wonder what you ahd smoked when you made that preposterous claim:

“at present we have the best leader in the world i.e., Modiji, none can equal him at present or future”

In any case, since you belong to the Modi cult you cannot be cured of your of Modi bhakthi despite all evidence of the man’s authoritarianism, a pogrom under his belt, nothing done to combat lynching, ruining of the economy through demonetisaton, a botched strike at Balakot and an ill-planned lockdown that threatens millions of poor migrant workers. To name a few of this man’s egregious errors.

The title of one of the best leaders in the world today goes without a doubt to Ms Jacinda Ardern of New Zealand. She has tackled the Coronocrisis, the mass killings at the mosque in Christchurch and many other issues in New Zealand using the tools of democracy. She gets my vote. Not an RSS apparatchik who has merely widened the many political fissures in the country.

  12. Strategically thinking & strategic doing of you and your party in the need of the hour should be to donate a tiny portion of the wealth amassed to the needy and poor (which would run up to thousand of crores) and live up to your evergreen slogan ”GARIBI HATAO ”

  13. BJP is not telling anything about Rahul Gandhi which is unknown even to a village voter. Why bother. None can accuse Rahul Gandhi of being intelligent and articulate. Stop mocking him. He is not going to change.

  14. Congress …. please wake up.

Rahul Ji is shallow, lacks intellect and is devoid of real world experience. In short, Rahul Ji is an embarrassment.

Modi Ji is an exceptional individual and is a once in a century leader, with a superb team at his command. It is obvious to even most uneducated folk that Modi Ji and his team genuinely have the nation’s best interest at heart. Contrast that with the scam ridden decades of Congress (mis )rule.

However, nobody is perfect – not even Modi Ji – and genuine opposition is needed to keep the Government sharp.

Please Congress, get rid of ‘The Gandhi’ baggage, reinvent yourself and play the role of constructive opposition – not the parody that you’ve become. Else, be prepared to be consigned to the dustbin of history.

  15. The actual coward is Modi. He cannot take questions from the media ever, except from his cronies. At least Rahul turns up for the interview. Modiji’s grand strategy for tackling the corona virus is to ask the public to bang pots and pans while shouting “go corona go”, light lamps, sing homilies to our corona warriors while denying them adequate PPEs, ventilators, sufficient number of testing kits, fund Public Health anemically for the past 6 years, pretend as if migrant workers’ issues don’t exist.

Ask our PM to put money where his mouth is… and please stop telling us what to do. For a change, tell us what your Govt is going to do for the country. And ask your bhakts to stop touting cow urine as a cure… it’s disgusting.

  16. If you see old videos of his father Rajiv (Bada Pappu) … you can see that the fruit doesn’t fall very far from the tree

You remember Bada Pappu’s famous quote from 1980s:

    “Jeetenge Ya Loosenge”

  17. This is preset press conference, that’s why Surjewala was able to read the question, wen a journalist Mike went off. Why no journalist aired any questions about tableegi jamat, which has created a mess by 30%.italian mom’s another attempt to lauch the dumbo again

  18. While Rahul Gandhi’s is an example of a good message delivered poorly, Modi’s speeches are good oratory saying nothing.

  19. Shri Holy Highness Rahul Gandhis Interview has been posted in every what’s app group I am member of and evoked nothing but @strategic” laughter. The guy is complete disjointed comedian. Doesn’t make any sense, strategic or otherwise!!

  20. You can only laugh at what you don’t understand!! Exactly the kind of reactions that have seen Modi turning out to be the original Pappu!! Looks like they have not learnt a lesson yet!

So go on BJP, laugh.. laugh over the tears, hunger and suffering of the underprivileged!! Laugh at those praying for a relief package!! As always, BJP, like true anti-nationals, are the only ones playing politics in the times of the Corona Virus!!

    • Dear Congress Toady, pls accept the harsh reality, that your emperor has no clothes! The guy is a prized idiot and the only reason he is there in this position is because of his mummyji. Get rid of him and get someone decent like Sachin Pilot or someone other capable guy to stem the rot in congress

  21. The BJP twitter handle should request India’s PM to kindly agree for a press conference, having participation from all major and regional media organizations. This should be well publicized so that the nation can tune in to the session and hear their PM take questions in the live session and respond and share his thoughts on the most serious challenge facing the country in decades.

    • Action on the ground is important, not press conference.we know how the paid agent journalist will bring in the twist.PM is directly interacting with the people of india.Thats is more than enough.pappu is unemployed dumbo,he can sit and do this nonsense.
