New Delhi: Congress general secretary Jyotiraditya Scindia resigned from his post Sunday, taking responsibility for the party’s poor performance in the Lok Sabha polls.

“Accepting the people’s verdict and taking accountability, I had submitted my resignation as General Secretary of AICC to Shri @RahulGandhi.

“I thank him for entrusting me with this responsibility and for giving me the opportunity to serve our party,” Scindia tweeted.

His resignation comes hours after Mumbai Congress president Milind Deora quit his post.

  1. My choice for Congress President would be Pranab Mukherjee. if he is willing to rejoin active politics. The day the Congress “kicked him upstairs” as President of India, it lost the plot in parliament My second choice would be Abhishek Manu Singhvi, who had saved the day in the previous Gujarat Rajya Sabha elections, as also in the Karnataka Govt formation. As a Rajya Sabha member from Bengal he would also be acceptable to Mamata Banerji. Has the Congress got the guts to think out of the box, and get its act together?

  2. If the Indian National Congress is to become a vibrant party relevant to the National needs, it must do the following: Accept Rahu’s resignation; Appoint Dr Manmohan Singh as the Interim President for an year: make a massive drive for membership penetrating every village in the country which needs to be done in the next nine months: Conduct inner party elections for all the posts, which include its National President, Members of the CWC, president of Pradesh Congress and District level posts so that the party truly becomes truly democratic and relevant. The party must realize that the Namdhar cliché has brutally hits its image.
Nearer home, DMK will go down hill path sooner than later notwithstanding its massive victory in the recent Lok Sabha elections. The anointment of Stain’s son – and the way he was shown kissing his son a la the late Kalaignar who did the same on Stalin to stamp his approval as his successor – would indicate that there is a paucity of talent in the party to hold higher position.
