Gokul Gopalakrishnan takes a dig at Mamata Banerjee for her unnecessary comment on the NRC issue. The West Bengal chief minister said that NRC will lead to civil war and bloodbath.
Kiki ‘death’ challenge
A Kiki challenge involves people to get out of their cars while in motion, and dance on the road. In a viral video, comedian Shiggy was seen dancing on Canadian rapper Drake’s song “In My Feelings” for the challenge. The video created a chain reaction on social media when people all over the world, including celebrities, danced on the roads with their car door opened. The challenge has also caused some deadly accidents.
Cartoonist Nala Ponnappa brings up the same Kiki Challenge in his cartoon. He suggests driving school to give “free Kiki lessons” to learners instead of driving.
The price of nationality
In The Economic Times, R. Prasad takes a dig at Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s promise in 2014 to give Rs 15 lakh to every poor person if the black money store in foreign banks is brought back. Now that 40 lakh people are excluded from the draft NRC list, a man is asking a kid to to do the mathematics.

In The Times of India, Sandeep Adhwaryu shows migrants as chess pawns, on a green and saffron board. He brings forth the condition of migrants, who have been excluded out of the draft National Register of Citizenship list. A woman is shown referring to the metaphor – back to square one.
Empty bank coffers left behind by Mallya
Kirtish Bhatt in BBC News Hindi uses satire to comment on UK court’s request to seek videos of the jail in Mumbai where Vijay Mallya will be kept, in case he is extradited. The decision came after Mallya complained of no natural light and fresh air in Indian jails.
Is Manmohan Singh on the NRC list?
Cartoonist Manjul’s edition attacks the draft NRC list that has left out some prominent names among the excluded 40 lakh people. There are many prominent personalities including Congress and BJP MLAs missing in the list. Former President Fakhruddin Ali’s kin are not included in the list too. The cartoon suggests former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, who was an MP from Assam, to check his name in the list.
Kejriwal’s tryst with corruption
Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal was given a clean chit by CBI in a bribery case. Last year, Aam Aadmi Party minister Kapil Mishra had alleged that he had seen Kejriwal accepting Rs 2 crore from fellow party leader Satyendar Jain. Cartoonist Arvind shows how the bribery case was drowned after a new sea of hoardings.
