The best cartoons of the day, chosen by editors at ThePrint.

The selected cartoons appeared first in other publications, either in print or online, or on social media, and are credited appropriately.

The lead cartoon by Lars Kenseth in The New Yorker is a take on President Trump’s decision to pardon Indian-American conservative commentator Dinesh D’Souza who was sentenced to five years of probation in 2014 for violating federal campaign laws. Kenseth draws parallels with American Revolutionary figure Benedict Arnold who betrayed the country, and Soviet Union’s conspiracy on Sputnik satellite. He adds a touch of humour by comparing KFC’s ‘bun-less’ burger and comments on Trump’s decisions to pardon ‘anything’.

Cartoonist Hemant Morparia in the Mumbai Mirror mocks US President Donald Trump and his North Korean counterpart Kim Jong Un. Both have been catching global media’s attention for numerous reasons in the past week. In his latest move, President Trump resumed the cancelled nuclear summit with the Asian nation scheduled for 12 June.

Sanket Jack takes a dig at the so-called liberal media for overlooking the simultaneous deaths of two of BJP workers in Mamata’s Banerjee’s West Bengal. On Saturday, a second body of a BJP supporter was found hanging in West Bengal’s Purulia district.

Similarly, Hemant Morparia reflects on the media’s tendency to create controversies and selective coverage based on caste, gender and Pakistan. Morparia comments on mainstream media’s ignorance of the Purulia deaths in West Bengal.

Cartoonist Arvind has a laugh at the poor state of Air India’s bidding that had no takers. The artist sarcastically comments on BJP government’s announcement to bring down petrol prices by 1 paise and the same price tag for the government airliner.
