Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh Police Sunday suspended three police personnel, including a sub-inspector and two constables, for allegedly misbehaving with and assaulting RSS district pracharak Manoj Kumar in Mathura.

An FIR on charges of attempt to murder was registered against Sub-Inspector P.K. Upadhyay and Constable Amit Kumar Saturday on a complaint filed by Kumar. The name of the second constable who has been suspended is not yet known.

Several videos of the alleged incident went viral Saturday morning. In one of the clips, purported BJP and RSS members in Mathura are seen thrashing some police personnel who allegedly misbehaved with Kumar. According to sources in police, the incident took place in the Kumbh region of Mathura.

Mathura Senior Superintendent of Police Gaurav Grover told ThePrint, “We have set up an inquiry after receiving some viral videos of the purported incident. We will also take action against those who thrashed police personnel. As of now, three police personnel, including one sub-inspector and two constables, have been suspended for misbehaving with and assaulting Kumar under Section 307 (attempt to murder) of the IPC.”
