The survey gave five options to respondents when asked about the change in demand of bribes — ‘Bribery is continuing like before, Bribery has reduced, Bribery has increased, Did not have a need to bribe in the last 12 months, Not Applicable’.

According to the survey, 49 per cent respondents said that bribes in property registration and land issues have continued as before. But 12 per cent said bribery has reduced, and 8 per cent felt it has increased.

In work related to municipality and local bodies, 44 per cent said that bribery demands have remained the same. Meanwhile, 13 per cent said bribery has increased in local bodies and 10 per cent said it has decreased.

As many as 42 per cent people said that bribe demand from police has not changed. But eleven per cent people said it has increased and another 11 per cent said it has decreased, according to the survey.

Thirty-eight per cent people said that in the last 12 months, demand for bribes by tax officials has continued like before, while 17 per cent are those who said it has reduced. A mere six per cent said it has increased. But 33 per cent said that they did not feel the need to bribe at all, the survey stated.
