Patna: The Karnataka Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing complaints against former state minister H.D. Revanna and son Prajwal has asked the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to issue an Interpol Blue Corner notice against Prajwal, ThePrint has learnt.

Through it, the SIT will seek additional information pertaining to the whereabouts of Prajwal, the Janata Dal (Secular) MP from Hassan who flew to Germany last month on a diplomatic passport that enabled him to leave the country without government clearance.

According to Interpol, a Blue Corner notice is issued to collect additional information such as identity, location and activities of a person who is facing a criminal investigation. The CBI is India’s nodal agency to communicate with Interpol on such matters.

Meanwhile, members of the SIT Saturday took H.D. Revanna into custody and also conducted a site inspection at his Holenarasipur residence in connection with the probe.

Karnataka government constituted the SIT last week to look into allegations of sexual assault after videos purportedly showing Prajwal Revanna sexually assaulting multiple women surfaced. The SIT then issued lookout notices against both H.D. Revanna and Prajwal Revanna, the son and grandson of former prime minister H.D. Deve Gowda.

Prajwal was suspended from the JD(S) in light of the allegations.

After the formation of the SIT, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramiah wrote a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi requesting revocation of Prajwal Revanna’s diplomatic passport.

“This is to urge you kindly, to move the Ministries of External Affairs and Home Affairs to take swift action to cancel the Diplomatic Passport of Prajwal Revanna and to take such other steps using Diplomatic and Police channels of the Government of India as well as International Police agencies to ensure the swift return of the absconding Member of Parliament to face the full force of law,” he wrote to the Prime Minister.
