Delhi: Retired Major General Gagan Deep Bakshi Friday refuted rumours of his death as he said he is alive and “haven’t gone upstairs to Allah tala as yet”.

In a tweet, the former Indian Army officer who is widely known for his strident war-mongering comments, wrote, “To all my worried friends and those not so friendly. IM ALIVE please no panic. I haven’t gone upstairs to Allah tala as yet (sic)”.

He wrote that he had been flooded with calls from “panic-stricken friends” since morning to find out if he was still alive.

Bakshi’s clarification came after a few WhatsApp forward messages regarding his death were reportedly circulated.

Major General Bakshi, from the Jammu and Kashmir Rifles, had served two tenures at the Directorate General of Military Operations and was the first BGS (IW) at HQ Northern Command (India).

In an earlier tweet Friday, he expressed concerns over the Chinese military’s action, who, he claimed has “turned over the 4th & 6th Highland Motorised divs with fresh troops” at the border and reminded India to maintain a “sharp look out” on the Chinese border.

“While we are panicking over the second wave- my sincere advice. Please keep a sharp look out on the Chinese border. If this is Biological warfare they may be TEMPTED to follow up on the border. As it is they are have turned over the 4th & 6th Highland Motorised divs with fresh troops (sic),” Bakshi tweeted.

On ‘Wuhan viruses’ and ‘mad dogs’

Bakshi had pointed out Tuesday how only countries ‘inimical’ to China such as the UK and Europe are facing mutations of a virus that originated in Wuhan and not countries like Pakistan and Bangladesh.

“Some very logical questions. Wuhan virus originated in China. How come there has been no mutation there? How come mutation has happened in India only & not Pakistan Bangladesh or any other South Asian country? it has happened in UK and Europe – counties inimical to China,” had tweeted.

Last year, Bakshi, who often appears on panel discussions on news channels as a defence expert, made headlines for calling Pakistan a “pagal kutta” in an interview to the portal Defensive Offensive.

“War is not a diplomatic disaster, but an inevitable price Pakistan must pay for being a pagal kutta”, Bakshi had said.
