New Delhi: The Editors Guild of India Thursday “strongly condemned” the physical attack on senior editors of Republic TV channel Arnab Goswami and his wife Samyabrata Ray.
The Guild said “any physical attack, instigation for hate or verbal abuse hurled against any journalist is a reprehensible act”.
“The freedom to express one’s views or report facts without any fear or intimidation whatsoever is the most fundamental tenet of journalism. The Guild asks the Mumbai Police to bring to book those who had attacked the two editors,” it said in a statement issued Thursday night.
Goswami and his wife were attacked in the early hours of Thursday in Mumbai when they were returning home from work. The incident took place on the Ganpatrao Kadam Marg.
In a video Goswami released around an hour after the attack, he claimed two motorcycle-borne persons attacked his car and tried to break the window.
He also blamed interim Congress president Sonia Gandhi for the attack after alleging that the men said they were Youth Congress workers.
Police said the attackers were carrying a bottle of ink which they threw on the car. Goswami’s security guards, who were following in another car, caught hold of the two persons and handed them over to the police.

We know Arnab well. He is one of the hate monger among the journalists. He will make this incident for his advantage. Actually this incident could be pre-planned by his men to counter the case of spreading communal hatred against him
Please also condemn Arnab for his communalised language he used on his TV chanel while discussing Palghar incidence. If he had any doubt about the linching incident, he could have investigated the matter independently.
