New Delhi: “Came to my house seeking Rs 5,000 for the treatment of his pregnant wife, told my wife about not feeling well and took two of my sons to the roof where he murdered them, and then said her about completing his work” — these are the contents of the complaint which Vinod Kumar gave to the Uttar Pradesh Police after a barber killed his two minor sons.

The barber, Sajid, who ran his salon just opposite to Vinod’s residence in Baba Colony of Budaun, was later gunned down in an encounter.

Vinod wrote in his complaint that when his wife Sangeeta returned with money, she saw Sajid and his brother Javed returning from the roof and the knife soaked in blood.

Sajid had slit the throats of Vinod’s sons, aged 11 and 6, on Tuesday night, while the third boy somehow managed to escape with injuries.

“I had no personal enmity with Sajid and Javed. I don’t know why they have killed my children,” Kumar wrote in his complaint.

Based on Vinod’s complaint, the Uttar Pradesh Police filed an First Information Report (FIR) under Section 302 (murder), 307 (attempt to murder) and 452 (house-trespass after preparation for hurt, assault or wrongful restraint) of the IPC on Tuesday night.

Bareilly Range Inspector General of Police Rakesh Singh told ThePrint that Sajid was gunned down in an encounter near Sheikhupur area of the city after being chased down by teams of crime branch and Special Operations Group (SOG).

The other accused, Javed, is still at large. Sources in Budaun Police told ThePrint that father and uncle of the accused have been picked up for questioning.

Police officers investigating the case are yet to find out the motives behind the twin killings.

Angry protesters vandalised the salon run by the accused as tempers ran high in the area. But law and order was restored after senior officers informed the protesters that the prime accused was killed in an encounter, the police said.
