Gurugram: Additional director general of police (law and order) Mamta Singh was among the 15 IPS officers transferred Friday by the Manohar Lal Khattar government in Haryana.

Also, five Haryana Police Services (HPS) officers figured in the transfer list issued by Additional Chief Secretary (Home) T.V.S.N Prasad.

The development comes five days after the killing of INLD state president Nafe Singh Rathee’s murder in Jhajjar district. Two persons, including a Gurugram-based trader, were also shot dead in the ensuing period.

The Khattar government is under attack from the opposition parties over the deteriorating law and order, especially after Monday when the Budget session of the Haryana assembly resumed.

Mamta Singh, a 1996 batch IPS officer who was posted as ADGP (law and order) with the additional charge of ADGP (State Crime Branch), was relieved of the law-and-order duties, according to the transfer list issued by Additional Chief Secretary (Home) T.V.S.N Prasad.

The IPS officer had come to the limelight when communal violence erupted at Nuh during a religious yatra on July 31 last year. She had successfully evacuated devotees stuck in a temple that was under attack from rioters.

ADGP Sanjay Kumar, an IPS officer of the 1997 batch, will now take over this responsibility.

Besides these, Alok Kumar Roy, ADGP, Modernisation with the additional charge of Women Safety, takes over as DGP, HR and Litigation upon his promotion. Similarly, Sanjeev Kumar Jain, ADGP, Home Guards, is now DGP, Haryana Human Rights Commission.

Amitabh Dhillon, IG, Anti-Corruption Bureau with the additional charge of IG, Modernisation and Welfare holds the same charges as ADGP. Sangeeta Kalia, SP, Recruits Training Centre Bhondi, is now DIG with the same posting.

Rajesh Duggal, DCP, Ballabhgarh is now Gurugram’s Joint Police Commissioner.

SP, Mahindragarh, Nitish Aggarwal takes over as SP, State Crime Branch, while Arsh Verma, ADC to Governor with the additional charge of Lokayukta, will take charge in Mahindragarh.

Amit Yashvardhan, DCP (Traffic), Faridabad will take over the previous responsibilities of Verma.

Other IPS officers in the transfer list are Kuldeep Kumar (now DCP, NIT Faridabad), Himadree Kaushik (now DCP, Panchkula) and Sonakshi Singh (now ASP, Nuh)
