New Delhi: Union Finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman was felicitated Tuesday at the first meeting of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) parliamentary party in the ongoing Budget session of Parliament. Among those in attendance were Prime Minister Narendra Modi, External Affairs minister S. Jaishankar and BJP national president J.P. Nadda.
A meeting of the BJP parliamentary party is held every Tuesday when Parliament is in session.
The ongoing Budget session was initiated on 31 January with President Droupadi Murmu’s joint address to both houses of Parliament. This was followed by Finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman tabling the Union Budget for FY 2023-24 on 1 February.
Conduct of business in Parliament has since been affected by the continued logjam over the opposition’s demand for either a joint-parliamentary committee (JPC) probe or a Supreme Court-monitored probe into allegations of “brazen stock manipulation” levelled against the Adani Group by New York-based Hindenburg Research.
