The video was shared by a Twitter user, ‘Maniram Vishwakarma Kattar Hindu’, Wednesday. It shows a group of youths harassing a couple while they were boarding a car. The youths then snatch something from the woman sitting in the car before escaping from the spot.

“If the group of boys would have worn saffron clothes then the narrative of Hindu terror would’ve found a new definition. If their population increases, the violence will also increase,” read the text accompanying the video.

At the time of publishing this report, the video had over 1,000 views, 229 retweets and nearly 300 likes.

The video has been shared on Facebook too with similar claims. A Facebook user, Janak Bhatt, who claims to be BJP’s IT cell convener in Surat North assembly constituency, shared the video that had over 7,000 views and 186 shares at the time of publishing this report.

Fact check

The video actually relates to an incident of robbery in Karachi, Pakistan, and not in Mumbai as has been claimed by social media users in India.

Dawn newspaper had tweeted from its official handle on 27 August this year, stating that four boys had robbed a man and a woman in Karachi.
