Pawan Durani, who has 39,000 followers on Twitter, later deleted the post, but not before it received 4,575 likes and was retweeted by 1,854 accounts.
New Delhi: A Twitter user, Pawan Durani, Wednesday shared an image of a newly constructed road in “some distant village” and thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the same. However, the image turned out to be of an Indonesian village.
Durani, who seems to be an ardent supporter of Modi, Wednesday tweeted, “When some distant village gets road for the first time, this happens. Thank you PM @narendramodi for caring.”
The same image has also been shared on Facebook.
Soon, people started pointing out that the road he was referring to was built in Indonesia. Durani, who has 39,000 followers on Twitter, later deleted the post, but not before it had received 4,575 likes and was retweeted by 1,854 accounts. Here is an archive link to the tweet.
The combo image Durani tweeted showed children riding bicycles on a newly-laid asphalt road in a village.
The road was actually built in the Wates province of Central Lampung, Indonesia, and its images appeared on Asian news portal coconuts.co in August.
The photos had gone viral on Twitter after a user named Mas Rufi had tweeted them on 26 August.
kebahagiaan yang sederhana adalah pembangunan yang merata. Adek² kita ini akhirnya merasakan apa yang namanya aspal, saking excitednya mereka sampe lepas sandal ??.

Its original read: “Simple happiness is equitable development. Our brothers and sisters finally feel what is called asphalt, because they were so excited they released their sandals.”
The original image had received more than 15,000 retweets.

Great work. These cheap tactics should be exposed at the very nip in the bud.
This is what is going on for few decades. People should be aware of fake news that is being posted by BJP supporter (IT cell).
