A video of a politician criticising Prime Minister Narendra Modi in some assembly is circulating on social media. It’s claimed that Modi is being called out in parliament of Nepal. But upon investigation, it’s found that the viral video is not from Nepal but from the legislative assembly of Himachal Pradesh, where the state’s Minister of Horticulture Jagat Singh Negi was giving a speech.

Voting for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections will take place in seven phases between 19 April and 1 June. All political parties are active in the battlefield. As soon as the election bugle was sounded, videos and statements of leaders started going viral on social media with different claims.

In the viral video, a politician can be heard criticising various issues related to India, mentioning India’s aid to other countries, Modi’s foreign trips, money spent on welcoming former US President Donald Trump, demonetisation, and rising petrol prices. A user on Facebook sarcastically wrote with the video, “The successful Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji is now facing criticism even in Nepal. Whatever the Nepalese MP said about Modi in the parliament should be watched by every Indian when they go to vote.”

Another user on X shared the video and wrote, “Whatever the Nepalese MP said about Modi in the Nepalese parliament should be watched by every Indian when they go to vote.”
